"He's scared," Dante corrected, a little defensive. He tried to sound sure of himself, but he failed. "It's not normal, we both know that. Not that we care, but he kept thinking we were going to go off and marry some pretty babes." I should've corrected him way back when. But he was so amused by the thought that he hadn't, thinking that Nero's thought process would've been harmless.
Sighing, Dante sat up and munched slowly on the crust of his pizza piece. His stomach was hungry, but he didn't feel like eating. He felt lethargic, barely functional, and every time he paused to think about doing anything his thoughts would immediately stray to Nero. Well, at least it was summer. It would suck more if he went out alone in the winter.
Looking at his twin, Dante leaned over and nudged the other's chin with his nose. "You like him," he accused, strangely serious. "You're just mad at him for leaving 'cause you thought he'd do better." Now that he had some food in him, he could at least attempt to figure out what was going on in Vergil's scary mind.
"He's scared of something he doesn't need to be scared of." Vergil said, still annoyed by the whole thing, "I don't see why this surprised him so much. He was always calling me 'gay' anyway." much to his annoyance. He knew Nero had meant it in slander, not just in a teasing manner.
Vergil wrinkled his nose when Dante moved to nudge him, more so when Dante accused him of actually liking that brat Nero. As if. Why should he? "I do not." he all but growled out, "One less child to care for is fine by me."
Dante made a weird sound around a new pizza slice he had picked up. Chewing, he gave his brother a raised eyebrow, a look that the other often shot him. "...You are gay though, I don't know why you're so pissed," he pointed out, but there was the smallest hint of a chuckle in his words. He knew better than to laugh flat out though, Vergil could easily beat him into the ground if he stayed in his prissy mood.
Continuously feeling better with every bite of pizza he took, he sighed and leaned back on the sofa, sliding one lazy blue eye to his twin. "Whatever you say, Mom." He was fighting a flat-out grin now. Acting like Nero was kind of fun, and besides, Vergil had been less harsh on him with Nero around. CLEARLY, Dante wasn't as bad as the other thought. Or so Dante hoped.
"I am not gay." Vergil glared at him, "I would not like any other man... you are..." he hated to say this and sound all sappy, but, "... special." At least Dante was eating now, and seeming to enjoy his food. If he didn't he would have forced it down his throat.
Vergil bristled at being called 'Mom'. Nero did that all the damn time. "Call me that again and you'll be joining Nero." he threatened. As much as Vergil put on the grumpy act, and as much as he seemed to dislike Nero... he really was worried. Not that he'd ever let on.
Dante's white eyebrows disappeared even further into his brow line. "...So there's a sexuality specifically for me now? Nice to know." He WAS grinning now, even if he was trying not to. His brother said the strangest things sometimes when he was in complete denial, and yet... he was touched.
Leaning forward, Dante gave his twin a quick kiss that tasted very much like pizza. "Someone's gotta make sure you go outside and get some sun," he sighed, turning back to his pizza. He leaned his back heavily on his twin's shoulder, more to be annoying than to be affectionate. "Besides, you'll get all lonely and you'll need sex sometime."
"That's the easiest way to put it." Vergil said, giving him a look for that damnable smirk his twin had on his face. "Can you honestly see me liking anyone else enough to be interested in them this way?" which was the truth. If Dante hadn't started pushing for this sort of relationship, Vergil never would have done anything. Never would have had anyone else in his life. He could easily get along with people if needed, but in the whole disliked most everyone. Being in a relationship was something he'd resigned to never doing, until... well this.
Wrinkling his nose at the taste of pizza as his twin kissed him, Vergil rolled his eyes. Something he did way too often around Dante. "Getting some sun is highly overrated. I get enough." he grumbled, glaring at the back of Dante's head when he leaned back against him.
"Only you would think of that." Vergil shook his head, though wouldn't admit that he probably would crave physical needs if Dante wasn't around for long enough. The idiot had gotten him hooked on it.
"You would've died a virgin," Dante agreed, nodding gravely as if the mere thought was a fate worse than... well, typical death. "You do not get enough," he argued, shifting over a little so that his head was laying in his brother's lap as he munched happily on his pizza. It seemed like pizza was his anti-depressant, his anti-drug, and his anti-anything-remotely-bad. He couldn't deny that his brother attempt to cheer him up was working, though he wasn't going to let Vergil know it without a fight.
"I would," he argued, trying very hard not to think of the last time they had tried to have sex. That had been the night that Nero ran out the door. Dante still got shivers from thinking about it. "Someone's gotta feed your needs. Just like you feed me." It was the closest he could get to an open thank-you for the pizza.
"Oh woe..." Vergil rolled his eyes, sarcasm thick. If he had died a virgin it wouldn't have bothered him too terribly... probably not at all. Unlike Dante he did not feel it was his life mission to make sure he got all the sex he could. Though after having sex with Dante, it was difficult to not want it. That idiot had gotten him hooked on it. That he couldn't deny.
"I would rather not have enough sun than too much. I do not wish to look like those old women who have spots all over their skin from too much suntanning, thank you kindly." he said, then looking down at his brother's head in his lap. Giving him a wrinkle of his nose at the last comment, though not as annoyed looking at usual, he 'hmphd'.
Dante look up at his brother with a raised eyebrow. "And people call me vain," he snorted around his pizza. "Mum always said your face would freeze that way if you keep frowning, you know," he commented, just as he finished off the slice. If he had his normal appetite, he would've reached for another slice, but this was enough for now. His stomach had stopped rumbling, and now he could focus on what was really on his mind --Nero.
"...Do you really think he'll come back?" the younger twin asked suddenly, an uncharacteristically thoughtful look on his face as he looked up at his twin looming over him. Even if Vergil lied to him, Dante would be comforted. He knew now that his twin wasn't all-knowing or all-powerful, but when they were growing up, he used to think that Vergil knew everything there was to know. A part of him was reverting back to being a child, wanting to be comforted in a situation that frightened him and made him worry obsessively.
