Edward was bundled up, holding onto his bag as he walked, slowly with his head down. It was cold and early and he was going to catch a train out to Osaka. He just needed a break and the opportunity to follow a new lead seemed like a good arrangement. Allen obviously needed time as well.

He sighed and just walked, dazed.

Continuing down the street, Lavi noticed a small coffee stand open, and for a moment contemplated getting something and then realised he had no money. A sigh and he continued walking until his eye lit upon the last person he wanted to see at that moment. He didn’t know what Ed was doing down this end of town - for all he knew he lived around there - and didn’t care much, but he couldn’t just ignore him when he was the reason for him being so damn pissed off, he tried though, for now at least.

He didn't notice Lavi at all, focused on a lot of nothing. It was as though the world was a blur and his mind was simply focused.

Lavi didn’t know whether Ed was ignoring him or just hadn’t noticed him, but it made his temper flare that little bit more and he found his feet moving faster, closing the distance between himself and Ed. “You’re a real asshole, you know that?!” He snapped, before his brain decided this wasn’t a good idea.

Edward just stared at him for a moment, blinking. Then he recognized Lavi and he frowned. "Usually, but I haven't done anything lately." He muttered the words, having come out of his little daze. He didn't like rude awakenings.

“Bullshit!” He couldn’t believe Ed had actually said something after Lavi had sat with Allen crying to him not half an hour ago. “I can’t believe you called him and said something like that! Have you ever thought just once how Allen feels about this whole damn mess?!” If he’d have actually stepped back and given a moment of thought to how Ed was feeling he might not have been shouting, but his temper had already flared and for some reason he couldn’t keep it in check.

"Said something like what?" Edward blinked at him cluelessly. "How can I know how he feels if when I ask him about being upset he hangs up on me?" He frowned at Lavi, looking somewhat angry himself now. "It's not my fault he's not answering his phone and if he would just...why am I explaining myself to you?"

“Isn’t it obvious how he feels? And weren’t you the one who said you’d hang up on him?!” Glaring at Ed in response to the angry look the other now had, he grit his teeth a bit; “And as far as I’m aware you only called him once.” Why was Ed explaining to him? Because someone needed to tell Allen what the hell was going on and since Ed clearly wasn’t going to be that person, he’d have to - he didn’t even think twice about that.

"WHAT?! I never said that! I said I'd excuse myself. It's not the same thing! Like I would ever hang up on him. Who does that? It's not obvious! I don't understand!" Ed cried out, flailing. "I don't understand how he feels because I don't even understand how I feel right now!"

Lavi wouldn’t take Ed’s words over Allen’s; a stranger’s words against a friend’s didn’t make much sense to him. Growling softly, he didn’t have the chance to challenge his brain’s decision to help Ed start understanding, his fist pulled back and was connecting hard - possibly the hardest he’d hit anyone - with Ed’s jaw before he knew it. His fist ached now, but he wasn’t concerned with that. “Maybe you should just get the fuck over yourself and your fucking temper and start thinking! Then you might understand! Allen’s hurting so damn much because you won’t fucking forgive him and you clearly don’t see that! He’s sorry dammit, and I’m sorry too!” Though he was sure, at least at that moment, that he wasn’t sorry for hitting Ed.

He took the hit and stumbled back a step before falling on his behind. Edward had been completely blindsided by that punch. He looked at the ground tearing a little, not from the pain but from the words. Forgiveness wasn't his strong point, and he had never tried before. But he liked Allen, and so he tried for him. It was clearly unsuccessful and he was frustrated. When he answered Lavi, his voice had gone ice cold and it was steady and monotonous.

"Get over myself? Maybe it is Allen who should get over himself because he has no interest in letting me back in. I try, and even if I say it wrong, he starts to cry and when I try and ask him about it, he hangs up on me, like I don't matter. You don't know what you're talking about."

He was angry enough that he was shaking, but it wasn't at Lavi.

Ed probably didn’t realise but he’d picked the perfect words to say. He was right; Lavi didn’t really know what he was talking about. He’d gotten one side of the story and instead of stepping back to think about how the other party was feeling, he just let his temper get the better of him ( ... )

"Sie sind das Arschloch." Edward answered in German and then huffed. "No, you're not helping. If you're done yelling at me, I have to go to Osaka. I need to calm down, just like I've told both of you."

Lavi rolled his eyes when Ed called him an asshole - he didn’t think Ed was planning on him understanding, but it didn’t matter anyway, it was kind of true. Sighing again, he rubbed at the back of his head and then offered Ed a hand. “If you’re not in a rush… would you come somewhere with me? Just for five minutes and it’s not far from here…” Yelling wouldn’t help, but maybe he could help some other way.

"You're really in no position to ask me favours." Edward pointed out and got up, without taking Lavi's hand. He didn't need Lavi's help and didn't want it really. Not with how things were.

"If you tell me why, I'll consider it it." He pulled his bag onto his shoulder again.

Naturally Ed didn’t want a hand up after what Lavi had done to him, and he knew he was in no position to ask favours. “I know…” He knew, and yet he wanted to try it anyway. “I want to show you something…” He didn’t think Ed would say yes but it was worth a shot right? He just hoped things didn’t get worse if Ed agreed.
