(ooc: o_o Aerith is coming in later~ I should have her come in with Tseng eheh XB <3 )

It wasn't easy, to hear that the President of Shinra had been nearly assassinated-- again. Yukari practically had a heart attack when the news said he was dead-- only to be relieved by being reassured by Vincent that he was indeed alive, and in a coma. Now that he was awake... well, she was determined to see him.

Dressed warm with a trench coat and boots for the cold weather, Yukari arrived at the hospital. A boquet crooked in one arm, she gave a friendly knock on Rufus' door before opening it a little and poked her head in. "Hello!" she gave the blond a bright, but worried smile before stepping in, and paused when the door shut behind her.

"...You look like death, darling," she commented after giving him a once over, setting the flowers on his lap and leaned in to give him a kiss on the forehead. "How..." she hesitated a moment. "How are you feeling?"

"That sounds about right," Yukari replied with a worried sigh, setting down her purse and pulled up a chair close to his side. Habitually, her manicured fingers lifted up to fix his hair into proper place. "Even if you feel terrible, you should still look like the handsome President you are," she smiled warmly at him. "Making the nurses faint will make you feel better too, I'm sure." After she was finished, her hand eventually slid down and gently closed around his.

"I hope they don't keep you here long..." she added with a frown. "Hospitals are depressing. You should be able to recover from the comfort of home, don't you think..?"

Yukari playing with his hair felt really good. Rufus closed his eyes, relaxing under her touch. A small contented sound escaped his lips as she brushed his hair into place. He felt a lot better not looking like a degenerate kid, but he couldn't ever manage to do his own hair without a mirror.

"Thank you," he said. "I'm sure the nurses will like it."

A small smile played at the corners of his lips as she expressed her concern. Recovering at home would be nice but, he was sure that plenty of people would have something to say about it if he went too far out of the doctor's reach. "Maybe. But I'm still sick," Rufus replied. "If I got worse..." It would be better to be close to the hospital.

The former model couldn't help but sigh at that. "Why must men be so negative?" she asked entirely in a rhetorical manner, waving her hand out. "If you keep that kind of mentality, you'll only get worse, darling. And wrinkles-- which I simply can't stress enough."

Yukari poked his cheek playfully. "No 'ifs', Mister President. As soon as you feel well enough, they should ship you on home." she gave him a firm nod. "And that will be soon, right?"

They hadn't really named an exact date, so he decided to give Yukari a non-answer to her question in revenge for her daring to think he'd ever get something like wrinkles. "It won't be soon enough," he replied. "I want out." Rufus wanted to go home and relax in their jacuzzi against Rude's strong chest and then curl up in bed with his boyfriend and his cat.

God, he missed his cat. Dark Nation was always good at being a source of comfort to him. He hoped she wasn't driving Rude crazy in protest of Rufus not being at home. As he thought, he frowned. They hadn't killed each other, had they?

(ooc: XD that's probably the other reason why Rude doesn't want to go home alone. He's going to be murdered by the cat at some point.)

Annoyed with that response, Yukari only snorted. She supposed he was at least sounding a little more optimistic... but there was something she'd been meaning to talk to him about, and her expression faded into a frown.

"Rufus..." Yukari wanted to cross her legs, but realized she couldn't with her stomach in the way, so instead rested her intertwined hands on her lap. "How are you doing-- I mean, about Basch." she hesitated, amber eyes glancing down. "It's been bothering me," Yukari fiddled with her wedding and engagement rings a moment just as a distraction, "that everyone blames him, but then again they don't. Do you... really think he is capable of doing this?" slowly, she lifted her head to him, now curious as to what answer she'd get.

(ooc: Chloe volunteered Reno to watch Dark Nation.)

Of all the visitors he'd had so far, Yukari was the only one who'd dared to bring it up--Basch, that is. That one terrible, awful, awkward topic that made Rufus feel like his stomach was going to turn itself into a hard knot inside of him. It made him sad and at the same time it made his blood boil. Crossing his arms over his chest, Rufus looked away.

"Oh. That." He snorted, eyes moving back to her face. "He's a Turk, Yukari. Of course he's capable." All of the Turks were perfectly capable killers. Murderers.

It was what he paid them for, after all.

(ooc: Rude love Reno long time.)

Immediately, Yukari didn't like the tone of his voice. That couldn't be what he was thinking, not from a man who had practically raised him-- from what Balthier told her.

"Certainly he has the skills... but the mentality?" she countered warily. "I couldn't ever imagine that man hurting someone; nonetheless murdering someone evidence be damned. What could his motive possibly be? Set a forest on fire just to watch it burn?" Suddenly regretting that, Yukari bit her lower lip and looked away.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought it up like this."

(ooc: XDDD Save him some cat claws in his brainmeats.)

Glaring at her a little, Rufus snapped a bit. "How should I know? I thought it was fine!" Everything had been fine, until Balthier had met him. Until they'd moved in. Until things with Rude had gone downhill.

This year sucked.

"I thought he loved me," he whispered. No. Rufus would ignore the burning sensation behind his eyes and no matter how tempting it was, he was not going to give into tears over this. If Basch was betraying him, then the man didn't deserve Rufus' sadness and rage.

So why was he so full of it for Basch? He wasn't just upset, he was worried. If Basch was being framed, the chances that he would do well in jail were slim to none. Rufus hated to think of what this could be doing to the man if it were a lie. He'd spend years apologizing, if that's what it took.

Amber eyes flashed worriedly when Rufus' voice raised, and she guiltily looked away as she noticed his eyes begin to water. God, what was she thinking? It was too soon to bring this up... far too soon.

"Balthier's getting him a lawyer," Yukari said quietly, staring down at her lap--or what she could see of it. "I don't know him nearly as well as you do but... I simply can't place that man as a villain." the model lifted her head and frowned at Rufus.

"You-...you can't lose heart like this Rufus," she began desperately-- leaning forward in her seat, "Not until he's been found completely guilty!"

"You sound as though you're expecting him to be convicted any day now," Rufus grumbled. The long sentence hurt his throat, voice cracking at the end. He looked away, not wanting to see her looking even a little upset.

He couldn't lose heart, but he'd already lost Basch, had he not? What would be next? Rude? Reno? Yukari or Aerith? Agon? Rufus hated this all quiet passionately even as he sat in awe over the sheer amount of rage he was feeling.

Yukari snapped her head up at that comment, even though she could hardly make it out. "N-no, that's not what I meant!"

After visibly hesitating, she reluctantly rose to her feet and gently grasped his hand. Maybe for her own support or his, she didn't really know. "I don't want to see you devastated anymore. You're hiding it, aren't you? I suppose being a President will call for that. Just... have a little faith in him, mm?" she flashed a small smile. "It'll make things a little more pleasant, don't you think?"

She had a good point. Giving her a small smile, he nodded, deciding to humor her. So long as she thought he was agreeing with her, there would be no hurt feelings and he wouldn't have to deal with either her or Vincent being upset with him.

And he'd feel terribly guilty upsetting a pregnant woman.

Speaking off.

"How... are you doing?" he asked, nodding at her stomach. It wasn't any of his business, but it was the first possible change of topic Rufus came up with.

That was a strange moment to change the subject, Yukari mused. Maybe he didn't feel like talking about it... and of which the thought made her feel even more guilty for having brought it up in the first place. Yet nearly instantly, the model visibly appeared at ease upon view of the small smile Rufus has given her. Her faint, forced smile turned into a genuine one as she grasped one of his hands and pressed it gently to her stomach.

"Feel that? He's been keen on kicking a lot lately, which I'm assuming is a good thing." she answered, dropping her hand. "Rufus," Yukari gave the blond a hesitant look as her voice lowered to a murmur, "...I'm...ah, sorry for brining Basch up. It was undoubtedly inconsiderate of me." Subconsciously, she winced. Even with something she was plainly guilty of, apologizing and admitting fault was a damn difficult task.
