Summary: The morning after.
The memory of darkened woods gave way to the faint light of morning as Gil slowly opened his eyes, waking from the dream of his childhood. It had been something he had long forgotten, though he inwardly chastised himself for it. That was something he never should have forgotten.
Turning his head, he was surprised to find the very one he had made that promise with at his bedside, watching over him just as he had watched over her. Sitting up slowly, he simply watched her, making no other effort to move.
Sitting up slowly, she felt the bed move just slightly. Looking at him, she smiled softly and tiredly. "Well, well. You’re awake. Finally, I started to doze off again there."
Standing up, she touched his forehead with her hand. "Good, you don’t have a fever but just to be safe…"
Turning her back to him as she spoke, she handed him a glass of water with two pills. "Take these, you may have a nasty hang over."
Chuckling lightly again, her back to him, she turned back around to him, a plate in her hands, a cupcake sitting in the middle of the plate with a lit candle.
"Happy Birthday, my King of Heroes,” she said, warmly smiling at him as she handed it to him.
He took the pills she had offered him, along with the glass of water, though he only had a slight headache. Fortunately, he was not as dehydrated as he otherwise would have been thanks to her earlier care. Regardless, he downed them with a generous gulp of water.
With a chuckle, he set aside the glass to accept her gift. Quite frankly, he was surprised that she had remembered, much less taken the time to give him something.
"Thank you very much, O Queen of the North," he quipped, recalling the memory from his dream.
Raising an eyebrow, she tilted her head to the side and asked him, sounding extremely confused but chuckled lightly as she spoke
"Queen of the North? Are you still drunk, Gilgamesh?"
Sitting down in the chair next to his bed, she was worried about what he just said. Maybe he had a bit of left over alcohol in his system that had not worked itself out yet.
Surprise registered on his face briefly. He was certain she would have remembered something like that, even if he had forgotten about it all this time. He could not help but be disappointed, though it was probably for the best. Things would likely be awkward if she remembered.
A slight smile replaced it and he closed his eyes, chuckling softly. "No, I'm fine. Just a dream I had."
Shrugging her shoulders, she stood from where she sat and smiled.
"I’ll let you be then. I’ll be in the training hall if you need me, and oh yes, I would like to do something later, if you’d like, I’d like to take you out somewhere."
Casting a small glance over her shoulder, she then walked from the room and down the hallway.
