Consoles

Been considering my next major video game acquisition for a while. It had been pretty well locked on XBox 360. There still are an assload of games that I want to play that are only on 360, but Ottis got a PS3 and there are some pretty awesome games for it. I had been thinking that the 360 at least had the PS3 on price-point, but some things have come to light, mainly that no model of the 360 has wifi at all, which means I'd need to buy an adapter. The official one is $100; even the 3rd party ones are in the $60-70 range. All three PS3 models have wifi. They also all have Blu-Ray, while to get HD-DVD on 360, you need to shell out an extra $200.

So, comparing the models I'm most likely to buy:

PS3: $499.99

Comes with Wifi, and Blu-Ray. 80GB HD.

Exclusives: Motorstorm (bizarrely awesome, considering that I'm not into racing games much), Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank (maybe?), God of War 3 (when it eventually comes out).

It can apparently let my PSP download content, too. And the online service is free.

XBox 360 Elite: $479.99

No wifi (+$100), no HD-DVD (+$200), 120GB HD.

Exclusives: Beautiful Katamari, Bioshock, Orange Box (for now), Mass Effect, Lost Planet, Shadowrun (maybe), Gears of War.

No handheld to connect to, and their online service is like $8/mo.

So, the PS3, at $500, or the 360 at $780 for equivalent features, except the HD size (which, in that range, really doesn't matter much).

On the other hand, the 360 still does have more of the games I want to play. I could do without the HD-DVD, but wireless connectivity is a must. I'm not running an ethernet cable from my room to the garage. It's just not happening.

Of course, they do both share games that I want, as well, so it's not like I'd be stuck with just those exclusives. (Assassin's Creed, Rock Band, Armored Core 4, etc.)

So I dunno.
