Visit 01 : The creme brulee path
Feeling the gentle summer breeze lightly knock against my body, I tried to smile and inhale the sweet scent of the trees and grass that came along with it; aimlessly strolling along the pathway of the park.
I sighed wearily, not because I was tired from walking; but, because I was tired of watching all the happy people I see around me.
Seeing families spending some quality time with each other, children running around and playing with their fellow children, and the worst and most dreadful of them all, seeing happy couples cuddling, snuggling, holding hands, and being in each other’s company.
Even just the thought of them already makes me sick to my stomach. Not that I’m against couples, I just envy their happiness so much that it hurts.
I shook my head to get the bad and hurtful thoughts away from my mind; and decided to take a different path, away from all those happy people.
I closed my eyes then, mindlessly walked around. I knew this path I took was one that most people didn’t normally use, so I felt safe here.
Shoving my hands down my pockets, I took in some fresh air. Feeling more at peace, away from the crowd of people, hearing their distant voices; the more I walked away the lesser I could hear their jolly lauhter, which was god in my case.
Since I didn’t have to get depressed by their happiness anymore. Only the sweet voice of the wind accompanied by the gentle dance of the trees and my hurriedly running footsteps with short heavy pants.
What? I slowed my steps for awhile, listening closely before “WAH!!!--”
A sudden bump of somebody’s head hit me on my chest. I groaned at the sudden pain, but kept my feet on the ground.
Opening my eyes, I quickly gazed down and saw a blonde sitting down on the ground with his hands covering and holding on his head.
“I’am so sorry, are you alright!?” I panicky said as I grabbed his arms to help him up.
“Ye-yeah.. I’m fine.” He replied, dusting off the dirt on his clothes.
“Are you sure? You’re not hurt anywhere are you?” I asked still a bit worried “I’m really very sorry; it’s my fault, I wasn’t looking where I was going and -”
“No, it’s okay. I wasn’t looking where I was going too anyways.” He said while, looking up at me with his sapphire eyes and a cute little smile dancing on his lips.
For a moment, I felt time stop as he smiled at me. He reminded me so much yet, in differently not enough of a certain someone who’s smile was also as bright at the sun.
“Oh shoot! I have to go now, sorry for bumping into you!” He said in a haste before running off. I stared at his fading figure for a while, before shaking my head then, softly placing a hand at my stomach.
To be honest, after bumping, panicking, and worrying about that guy earlier; it made me hungrier than, I was earlier. I sighed then, patted my now growling stomach “There there, I’ll go find a good place to eat.”
I said to my tummy as I started walking off again. Where should I eat? A thought suddenly crossed my mind.
For a moment, I was a bit confused, aimlessly walking around the park. It was still in the middle of the day, too late for lunch and too early for dinner “How about something light, like sweets or a snack?” I said to myself while, suddenly remembering.
“How about the new cafe?” I smiled in delight, thinking what kind of good sweets the new store had to offer.
Though, where or at what part of the park was that cafe at again? “Ugh.. Stupid..” I sighed irritably, then started to walk off, exploring the park once more to find the cafe.
My stomach started to imitate the sound of a dying whale as I took almost an hour to find the place. I was about to forget it and walk off to restaurant instead; when I suddenly heard the soft tinkle of a bell. I blinked for a moment, trying to locate the site of that sound.
“Sujin Cafe?”
I arched my brow when I saw the big sign of the cafe’s name, but nevertheless I went in to check it out.
As I pushed through the cafe’s fine wooden door, I was greeted with the sweet scent of pastries and caffeine. A smile formed on my lips as I looked around for any vacant seats.
I decided to grab a seat at the window side of the cafe, featuring the park’s green nature.
“Good afternoon, may I take your order?” A somewhat familiar voice said as I was a bit busy gazing at the outside world of the cafe. I turned my head to the side and was quite surprised with whom that voice came from.
“Why, hello there.. Is your head and bottom feeling all better now?” I asked chuckling a bit as the blonde looked at me with an also surprised expression.
“Ye-yes.. It is, thank you for asking..”He replied stuttering as I saw his hands grip tighter at the menu he was holding.
“That’s nice to hear, may I see the menu now then?” I said as my hand opened up, asking for the menu he was gripping at so tightly.
“O-oh right! Sorry, here you go” He stuttered again as he handed me the menu, his cheeks colouring up a light tint pink.
“Hmm.. I’ll just have tea and creme brulee please/” I gave the menu back then, steepled my fingers together and rested my chin on them.
“Yes sir, please wait for at least 10 -15 minutes.” The waiter replied back as he then, grabbed the menu back from me.
“Sure thing.. Uhm.. Jin..” I said as I looked at his uniform and glanced at his name tag. Jin gazed his blue eyes down and noded, before running off to the cafe’s kitchen.
I stared at the door the little blonde entered for a while, turning my attention back to the scenery out of the window. I felt a moment of commiserating for myself as I blankly stared at the dancing trees and leaves; a sigh escaped my lips as my stomach started to imitate the sound of a dying whale.
“Ugh.. I’m s hungry..” Muttering to myself as I collided my forehead against the table. My fingers tap danced at the table, anticipating for a plate full of food for me to munch on.
“Uhm.. Hello?.. You still alive there?” I shot my head up quickly after hearing the blonde’s voice as he spoke; I saw him quickly covering his lips, to try and stifle down the chuckle that was trying to escape.
I rubbed my cheek with the tip of my index finger, feeling them get a bit hot as I glanced down in embarrassment.
“Ehem..” He fake coughed a giggle then, continued “Here’s your tea, the creme brulee will come up any moment now.” He said then, placed the cup of tea infront of me.
I took the cup, lightly blowed at the steam then, took a small sip; I sighed in relief as I felt the hot liquid slowly slide down my tongue then, down to my throat.
“Soo.. How long have you been working here?” I asked, trying to stir up a conversation at the blue eyed waiter before taking another sip of my drink.
“Awhile.. Three months ago to be exact, when the cafe opened.” He smiled then, went to the table beside me to clean it up.
“Oh, so this cafe is new.” I commented while, staring at the half empty cup of tea in my hands.
“Jiiiiin!!” Someone at the cashier half-shouted as he held out a tray with a plate of creme brulee on it.
“There’s your order, lemme get it for you.” He said running off to the cashier, I watched him take the tray from the other person and chat with him for a little, before jogging his way back to my table and placing the food infront of me.
“Enjoy your meal.” He said smiling before he ran off to greet another costumer.
