Two Roads Diverged

So, I have a question.

By the end of tonight I hope to be nearing the 9000 word mark, which is yay!me, right? But my problem is that something in the way that I am writing this particular piece has me nearing the end of the story. I am afraid that I will be at the end somewhere between ten and fifteen thousand words. Not conducive to reaching 50,000.

Before I ask which of the two solutions I have come up with you think is better (and that is a slightly awkward phrase), I should explain a little bit to those of you that don't know what I am writing. I have taken the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale (largely drawn from the disney-tized version, but also from other sources) and have written the evil fairy as a tragic character. She is not going to be a hero, not a hero, she is always going to be the villain of the tale, but as I said to a couple of my friends, I want to make you cry when she dies.

Anyway, I am getting to the end of the tale, and I want to know, should try to fill in the remaining words in detail and extra scenes that may not have come to me at that moment but could have been there. Or do I find another fairy tale that inspires me and do something similar with that one, turning it into a type of series.

That's my question and anything you might have to say would probably be helpful.
