So, I think that I have figured out where part of my compulsion to write fan fiction comes from. I like reading fan fic, we all know that. But every once in a while my brain becomes fixated on finding a very specific type of story in a certain fandom, and if it is too difficult to find a story that does what my brain wants, then it (my brain) decides that I am the one that should fill that lack. So, for Buffy, I wanted BtVS/Charmed crossovers with Xander as a witch. And i couldn't find almost any, and the few that I did find were either very bad or very incomplete and on a seemingly permanent hiatus. So I started writing one. And it turned into the BFC (short for big fucking crossover) in which Xander is the half-witch/half-demon younger brother of the Charmed Ones. They also had cousins who included Bobby from X-Men, and Sam and Dean from Supernatural. There was this whole big prophecy thing and a demon came and kidknapped first Bobby, and then Xander. I haven't even really thought about it in a long time, but it is there if my brain ever decides it wants that story again. Then I wanted a super!Harry (with super!Ron, super!Hermione, and redeemed!super!Draco) story. So I came up with this thing where Voldemort killed Ron's family, Hermione's parents, and Draco's mother, giving them the same protection that Harry had and then receiving a scar similar but not identical to his. They then formed this "Elemental Circle" in which they could each control an element as well as pool their power to be greater than the sum type of deal. It didn't go very far, actually. Less far than the BFC. Which actually gained a prequel, which is amusing, because it isn't even close to being finished. It's prequel involved Angelus revealing to Xander that he is a demon/witch and trying to corrupt him and then turn him, thereby recreating the evil foursome that was the Scourge of Europe (I had Darla as a witch, which on second thought doesn't make a whole lot of sense, seeing as she used guns in the first season of BtVS when she was trying to kill Buffy). It seems to be like there was another fandom in there between that and now, but I don't remember what it was. *thinks* Buffy, WaT, CSI, X-Men, the Covenant, Dracula, WoT, HP, LotR...no, it wasn't any of those...it wasn't King Arthur, Supernatural, Heroes, or Charmed. I did start conceptualizing a Star Wars fic that involved Luke and Leia being placed opposite. Luke being raised by the Organas and Leia being raised by Owen and Beru. I didn't get very far on that one either. Writing fanfic can be fun, and easier than being original, simply because it requires less thought about characters and situations, but at the same time it definitely isn't as fulfilling and therefore doesn't keep my attention very long.
Anyway, I started reading Transformers fan fiction. And what my brain wants is fic set post-movie, where the AllSpark somehow changes Sam. Doesn't really matter how, either changing him into an autobot himself, or simply giving him some sort of connection to the transformers, but that is what I am looking for. And I can't find very many good ones, so my brain has decided that I should start writing one. And it really couldn't have come at a worse time. I'm in the middle of trying to do NaNoWriMo, and my brain wants to write Transformer fic...*huffs* This is not what I need.
