Okay, so seriously, the last book is even better the second time around. Oh my gosh!!!! I don’t even know how to explain. I cried again, pretty much in the same places…though I actually cried for Dobby this time, I don’t think that I did last time. And I cried when Harry, Ron, and Hermione went to the Headmaster’s office and the portraits all cheered.
It was very, very interesting reading book six knowing what happens in book seven. I can’t remember most of what I consciously picked up while reading HBP, but I can remember thinking every once in a while, and they did this because of this, and this character shows up in the next book.
I have to admit the first time I read DH, I didn’t quite get the wand inheritance straight in my head. My brain couldn’t figure out how Draco was the Elder Wand’s master and not Snape…but I get it now, because Draco expeliarmus-ed Dumbledore. I mean, I knew that that was how Harry had gotten it from Draco, but…probably because it had been a while since I had read HBP, I didn’t remember that Dumbledore had been disarmed.
And can I just say that Dumbledore is a freaking genius. I mean…the way that he knows people and can see into them is amazing. He really didn’t ever talk to Ron or Hermione and yet he still knew that Ron would need the Deluminator, and he knew that Hermione would work everything out about the Hallows, and that she would try to keep Harry from going after them.
And even though I really didn’t think about fan fic while reading this, every once in a while something would pop into my head…Dumbledore/Grindelwald was one of them, while I was reading one of the section concerning them, I thought, someone has already written one of those…
And as much as I think Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione pairings are cute, the seventh book (and to a lesser extent book six) is littered with Harry/Hermione, Harry/Ron, and Harry/Ron/Hermione. Though really, the entire series has H/R/Hr, if your brain works in that freaky way that mine apparently does…*shifty eyes*
I think that’s it for now. I may try to do a full series recap in a day or two when the awesomeness of book seven can simmer into the awesomeness that is Harry Potter. (this post was typed in word, and saved because the user did not have access to the internet at the time.)
