Seokjin slaps Namjoon’s hand away, “I’m paying!”

“But you paid last time!”

“Well I’m paying this time as well”

“Hyeong please-“

“Namjoon it’s just five thousand won, calm down!”

“If it’s ‘just five thousand won’ then what’s the big deal if I pay it?”

The cashier coughs loudly over their drinks, a look of profound irritation etched on her face, Jin shoves a ten thousand won bill into her hand before Namjoon can object and grabs the two mugs, sticking his tongue out as he skulks off to find them a table.

Namjoon hangs back to collect the change, “sorry,” he mumbles

“You know I see you two come in here every week and he always winds up paying,” the girl snaps as she presses the coins into Namjoon’s hand, “that means something you know.”

Namjoon doesn’t know and he doesn’t want to ask - the girl is somewhat terrifying. Seokjin has secured them space on the comfy couch right at the back of the shop. He plops down next to him and smells the sickly sweet spice of Seokjin’s chai latte,

“You look terrified!” Seokjin laughs into Namjoon’s ear.

“That girl freaks me out, she talks in riddles.”

“What kind of riddles?”

Namjoon turns to face Seokjin and finds him closer than he remembered, big eyes filling the frame of his vision, their shoulders pressed together like they don’t have the entirety of the couch to spread out on.

Namjoon blinks, “nevermind I get it now.”
