Sun comes streaming through the skylights of the dance studio, catching dust in its wake. It falls along the back wall and illuminates Taehyung, sitting quiet and at peace, his eyes closed and his head resting against the wall.
He could almost be asleep, except Yoongi knows he’s not.
“Do you have your phone on you or something?” he asks, feeling his stomach sink as he reaches into his pocket to find his own out of battery. Taehyung shakes his head and doesn’t say a word.
Yoongi looks back at the door, unmistakably and uncompromisingly locked. He knows that it’s not all that bad, that Hoseok will be by sometime in the next hour once he's gotten Jungkook to confess to locking them both in after practice, but at the same time the hours he gets to spend away from idol responsibilities are few and far between and he’d rather not waste what time he has stuck in the dance studio with Kim Taehyung.
Well, he’d at least like to not be in the dance studio, Taehyung’s ok. With his toothy grin and tendency to laugh to quick and too long Yoongi can definitely see the appeal. He understands why V of Bangtan Sonyeondan has so many fansites dedicated to him and he can understand why when Taehyung takes his place at the forefront of dance formation the audience screams so loudly.
Taehyung swallows and his Adam’s apple bobs surreptitiously. Yoongi catches himself staring and not for the first time wonders if he doesn’t understand the appeal of Taehyung a little too well.
“Tell me a story,” Yoongi’s voice sounds eerie and unconfident reverberating off the black matt floors. Taehyung’s eyes open a crack and he sighs deep, like he’s thinking. There’s not an exasperated bone in his body.
“Once upon a time in a palace far far away lived a beautiful pink ostritch named Dominic…”
Yoongi settles himself on the floor to listen to Taehyung's ludicrous story. By the time Hoseok arrives half an hour later with the keys in one hand and a rather sheepish Jungkook in the other he will have decided that he likes the way Taehyung’s every emotion is told through his eyebrows and he likes the steady rumble of his voice when he's speaking.
Most of all, Yoongi will have decided that he likes Taehyung enough to call it a crush, but that there’s no need for anyone else to know.
