This started as a response to the Thimbleful Thursday 400 word prompt "ice queen" but at 952 word I've well and truly tossed away that limit. This story does not follow on directly from As Good A Place To Start As Any.... but it is a direct consequence of that meeting.

She could take the little girl to her mother, who would, aside from anything else, be interested in the child's hair genetics.

It's a feature of his physical ethnicity.

It's the far future and I'm trying not to have everyone look like they've just been transplanted from particular bits of present day Earth.
