Well i just watched the Presidential Debate. I wanted to ease up this stuff, but i needed to use some more skills i have learned in my reasoning class. So I watched the debate, carefully looking for mistakes on both sides. Overall its agreed on many sides, Kerry did a wonderful job. I do wish he elaborated more, problem with this, not everyone is a tech head. This is why i believe people like Bush, he's simple, so is 70% of america. I also have to admit, that when Bush isnt speaking, hes kinda cool to watch. I think he wouldve done better in sitcoms than politics. He could be the plucky comic relief, the goofy misguided neighbor.
Anyway, some of the mistakes I have noticed Bush made, (I doubled checked site as well, and others have noticed the same) He did make many. Overall he repeated things too much. People repeat things to engrain them in your head, which is good. BUT, people also repeat things because that all they can stand on, they have no better explanation, which is this case. he also opened eevry answer and reply, with an excuse or explanation of why he did it. No one should have to explaint his much, more trust should be there. He also did alot of "well he does too" remarks. If a criticism was brought up about Bush, he fired back with what Kerry did. Like I get caught smoking and I say well so-and-so does too. That doesnt fix that I was STILL caught.
The big one for me, the one that stood out the most is this one, on
this page of the transcript, the question was: "Give us some examples of what you consider to be his(Bush) not telling the truth"? Kerry answers well, with the same WMD and what not. Also the fact that we shouldnt have rushed war in IRAQ. Then, Kerry states that "..Osama bin Laden uses the invasion of Iraq in order to go out to people and say that America has declared war on Islam." Which is to say, that Osama can walk up to anyone, and say "hey, see what theyr doing in Iraq?, its bad, help me fight them to stop this ok?" Im dumbing it down, but thats wha it means, the negativity of what is going on in Iraq, can easily sway people to join in against us, much like fear controls us here. The kicker to this, when Bush replies, he states this, "He said Osama bin Laden uses the invasion of Iraq as an excuse to spread hatred for America...Osama bin Laden isn't going to determine how we defend ourselves...Osama bin Laden doesn't get to decide. The American people decide."
WHAT?...wtf? A good example if this at work in another situation is, My mother uses guilt to get my brother to get her some ice cream, and when called on this tactic, its like "what your mother doesnt decide what kind of ice cream we can have"! This makes no sense. You should be able to understand the accusations, someone who controls lives should understand the way meanings work.
Anyway, i still have to go back, and then analyze Kerry's side. On a last note, Bush repeatedly broguth up Kerry's "supposed" flip-flopping. Which kerry explained to no avail. He's not flip-flopping, he's simply changing his opinions because shit is changing over there. Thats called a critical thinker. Heres a life example of this, that will make sure sense of it. "Hey man i hear that girl your dating has an std"...."So im still gonna fuck her" If some bad shit comes up and you dont change your stance and opinion of it that makes you stubborn. Strength and stubborness should not be confused. I want a president that will shift opinions/stances according to best course of action. It means that person is adaptive.
