It's going to be a busy summer for me in terms of fandom.
First, I have Animazement which is HOLY SHIT in two weeks. I really need to a) find my camera b) find a suitcase and c) decide if I'm going to bring the laptop with me, which since I'll be on the train I probably should.
azure_raven,
aduial_peredhel I'd ask if you'd want me to bring any of my 10 thousand dvds, but knowing us, we'll probably end up watching Animal Cops or an NCIS marathon anyway.
Second, for The Pacific fandom peeps out there who haven't seen it, I draw your attention to
uniformly's
Pacific Exchange. Come and join for some much needed fandom love.
Third, most of you also know this already but for those who don't, sign-ups for
warbigbang are now open. I've actually signed up this year, now I just have to figure out what I'm going to write.
First of the ficlets went up last night at
larks_still_fly and the rest (minus the two that will be epic in length) will be up by the 26th.
In other news:
Mom's up in New York for a wedding. I haven't been back to my hometown in almost 15 years, so I'm kind of jealous, but since I don't really enjoy weddings (or anything which requires panty hose and heels) I'm cool with loungin' in my pjs while holding down the fort. The nurses have been amazing in taking care of Carrie. Mom was so paranoid about leaving, but she's more than earned the right to have some time away.
I ended up watching Beetlejuice on tv today, and god, it's been ages since I watched that movie. I still remember when it first came out, and the cartoon show that followed after. Anyway, damn movie is still awesome all this years later. Tim Burton, why so crazy?
ETA: Kirk Acevedo's new show has been picked up by NBC and put on the schedule for Fall 2011. You can read about the show
here. It's called Prime Suspect is a re-make of a British tv show, and will air Thursdays at 10pm.
They've also picked up Grimm which I really want to watch. I was hoping 17th Precinct was going to get the pick up of the two supernatural/fairy tale/magic cop shows, but NBC went with Grimm instead.
