Work has left me exhausted these past few days, I've been suffering writer's block from Hades for the past few weeks, and in general fannish life has been pretty blah for me outside of surprise!TBD and The Pacific re-watches.
And then Panic! At the Disco went and released their new video for Ready To Go
The video in question:

It's far from my fav song on the album, but I've still always liked it. But I LOVE the video.
Look, one of the things I've always loved and adored about Brendon Urie is his showmanship. And his voice, but seriously, in terms of performance I've always found him to be the best of his genre, and he's only getting better. Which is kind of scary.
As for the video itself, I mean, LOVE it. LOVE IT!. There's Mary Poppins! And Singin' In The Rain! And some Buddy Holly/Grease/American Graffiti alt 'verse! There is dancing, and Brendon being all full of sass and Spencer drumming his little heart out. Also, in the chimney sweep dance scene, there is D-Trix from So You Think You Can Dance/Quest Crew on ABDC/apparently now Panic! videos, and he's always been one of the most entertaining dancers I've ever seen.
However, this video does convince me that in terms of Panic! videos Brendon is a Time Lord who apparently uses a jukebox as his Tardis or something and if Bandom does not do a GreaserAU, now that we have a legit video AU excuse, I will be very sad indeed. (And the Grease AUs never really counted for me, b/c it's just NOT the same).
Of all the Panic! videos, this one is probably the one I've enjoyed most. I sincerely hope the boys keep staying succesful. They're staying true to their musical selves and I'd love them to have the success to go along with that. There's no way they'll ever top AFYCSO sales, but there are so many songs on Vices & Virtures that are better than The Ballad of Mona Lisa. And I hope other new and/or former fans will give the new album a chance.
And now I'll be over here wating for the videos for Let's Kill Tonight, Hurricane, Trade Mistakes, and Nearly Witches. I'll take a video for any one of those.
Writing wise, as I said, blocked. But I have started a ficlet in the ridic!popstar au featuring Burgie, Hoosier, Leckie, and Shifty. Yeah, I don't know either. But it's something I am actually able to write now and will probably finish before the night's end.
In terms of Osama Bin Laden and his death, really, Jon Stewart says it best for me in his
To Kill A Mockingturd segment. I know being happy someone is dead makes me a v. bad Catholic, and I am completely aware of it being a Hydra situation, and full of worry over what will happen next, but damn it, this is someone our country's been after for nearly ten years. It's the mastermind and figurehead behind thousands of deaths of people all over the world. It's a signficant moment in our history and while joy might not be the most proper way to mark it, I'm certainly not shedding a tear of mourning for him.
