We had to chage Carrie's trach today, at home, just the nurse, my sister, and me. It was, in a word, scary. In other words, gross. There was scar tissue/scabbing issues and ended up taking almost an hour. We had to start and stop, calm Carrie down, let her rest, and go at it again.
Disney to the rescue though. In the middle of it, with Carrie understandably freaking out, we put on Tangled which just came in the mail today. My sister has a sick sense of humor, so the first time someone got knocked on the head with a frying pan, she was loving it.
The good thing is that the trach changing will probably be easier the next time. Just like how we have to change her g-tube once a month, the trach will be every 2-3 months and we will all get used to it.
In other news:
I re-watched the pilot of CHAOS. Still liking it.
I've watched at least one baseball game every single day since Thursday. It's damn near giddy making. Of course, now I want to watch all these baseball movies I do not have, like *61, Minor League, and The Natural.
Fandom wise:
Wrote quite a bit more on the next full-length fic in the modern-au.
Thanks to
red_ajah I've been going on a Gundam Wing fic binge. It amazes me how many of the old sites are still up. A lot are gone, understandably, but I swear there are more GW sites still out there than LotR. Ah, fandom, back in the days of yahoo mailing lists and angelfire, long before fandom came to lj. God, I feel so old right now.
