Why are there no gaslight anthem icons to be found on lj

So I got to BMP way early and was able to see the soundcheck. The Gaslight Anthem came out and did their own and Brian Fallon, the lead singer, was out on the stage for a long time, but apparently I was the only one to realize this. They started warming up to a song and I was like, "I know that, it sounds like Tom Petty's 'Refugee.'" Sure enough, when Brian went to test the mic and the vocals, he started singing it. It was quite awesome.

There were some very crappy crowd-related bits that I will talk about once I have showered and slept but every bad thing of this past week was made better when during the breakdown in "The Backseat" Brian Fallon started singing lines from The Clash's "Lost in the Supermarket," which is, as you may or may not know, only my favorite Clash song EVER! So so so awesome. Like, okay, the boys love The Clash, I know this, but out of like any and every song they could pick, I am pretty damn certain the last anyone would assume would be "Lost in the Supermarket." Everyone only had a 30 min set and TGA fucking played their hearts out; they played a ton of songs and were so earnest and omg I know this is gushing but I love them even more than ever now. Also, the bassist and the other guitarist often play on their tippey-toes which charmed me so much. The drummer is also kick-ass.

Commentary, pics and maybe some really crappy videos tomorrow.

concert, music, boston, tga, the gaslight anthem
