I don't wanna grow up...but sometimes it's awesome

My grandmother's check arrived, which was a yay. Score for USPS against my grandmother. She also included a note reminding me, once again, to not talk to strangers. Of course, the check went right back out, well, mostly, as I transferred $150 into my savings, $50 to one credit card, and paid two other credit cards for this month. It is good to know, however, that half my bills for the month are already paid.

Capital One has also decided that no, I did not steal my own cards and go crazy. My account balance has been restored and I have one less thing to worry about. Still have to hear from Chase though.

Also bought tickets to fly to Charlotte in October, so that was fun. But the tickets were already over $300 and they're only going to get higher, so it was a now or never thing. I'm basically going home for a long weekend, taking two days off work and flying back on a Monday when I have no classes. I'm hoping to hit up the RenFest while I'm home. Mom will love to go, and my cousin Megan would also probably like to come along. I've not been in about three years, so I'm already psyched.

Still can't believe I'll be in the UK in less than a month. I'm still trying to plan where I'm going to go and what I'm going to do. Having "lived" in London for a month, I've already done the typical tourist-y things, but there are places I wouldn't mind seeing again. I saw three shows in the West End, one at the National Theatre, one at the Globe and saw "King Lear" at the Chichester Festival, so I have little to no desire to take in a play while there. (The class I took while in London was called "Arts of a World Capital." We saw plays and visted sites and art galleries. Best A I ever earned.) I've also already seen Stonehenge and been to Dover, so those are off the list of "things to see before I die." I do want to go to Oxford, try a day-trip to Cardiff, and have been told I must go to Brighton. My uncle said to go to Bath, but I honestly have little desire. Yes, the Austen-lover and the Roman-history-nut in me wants to go, but I want to go to other places more.

As for Dublin, I know I want to see Trinity College and take at least one trip out to the countryside. Other than that, I'm sure I'll find a park bench, people watch, take pictures and go, "Dude, I am in Ireland."

In the good old USA: Every time I try to plan a day-trip up to Salem, the weather goes against me. I really want to take one of the boats up, but it looks like I'll have to take the bus or the train. I'd probably prefer the bus since getting to the North Station Commuter Rail is a pain in the ass. But, it's Salem, so these things must be done. Maybe next weekend....

Music wise: I am currently addicted to The Cab's "Whisper War" album and kind of hate myself for it. They're like...an EMO boy band. NSYNC with guitars. Hanson with dance beats. Something like that. But they do write and perform their own stuff, even if they are all little 18 and 19 year old babies.

Netflix wise:

-Tried to watch "I am Legend." Could not. Finally just skipped to the end.
-Finally watched "Batman Begins." That was a whole kind of awesome
-"August Rush"...I wanted to like it so much more than I did. Worth a watch, but I wouldn't buy it.
-"As You Like It"...a different version, featuring British people. In Japan. Sucked so bad.
-Currently watching "Shakespeare Re-told," a BBC program that took Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, The Taming of the Shrew and A Midsummer Night's Dream and put them in our time. So far, just getting through A Midsummer Night's Dream. I like the version of Puck and Obereon so far.
