(When You Wake) You’re Still in a Dream
SPN/My Bloody Valentine crossover
PG-13 (not like the movie), Gen, set sometime after SPN S4’s repercussions have faded a bit.
For the cliche bingo prompt “doppelgangers,” naturally.

History catches up with him in Iowa )

I'm not familiar with My Bloody Valentine, but this is intriguing.

“Do you give yourself over wholly to the service of God and His angels?”

“Hey, wait a second!” Dean begins, angrier than he’s been so far.

Cas tilts his head and examines Dean the way he was looking at Tom. “There is always a price, Dean.”

So very like Cas and Dean.

Yeah, Dean has reason to fear that line. I'm glad you thought it was in character of him to protest!

Great story! I felt the same way for Tom.

Sadly, even though it was a really wretched movie -- bloody valentine scared the crap out of me. So seeing Tom reach some sort of conclusion -- it's really good. I'm getting CLOSURE here. Because -- yeah, he'll be an angel's lackey or whatever, but he won't be a scary guy in a Dean-body being all terrified AND homicidal all over the place.

Long story short: YAY I APPROVE.

Hee, yeah, that was pretty much what I was thinking. Dean doesn't need another homicidal maniac wearing his face on the loose.

I've got to agree with you. I really felt Axel needed to take it in the shorts for driving off and leaving Tom in the mine to face Harry. Essentially Axel created the secondary problem and got away without even feeling guilty! Anyway, great story.

Hee, I loved it. I agree. Tom really got the shit end of the deal and Axel is a prick, and his wife is stupid. But I'm not bitter, honest. :D

Anyway, thanks for this. Tom deserves a break.

Thanks! ETA: In fairness to his wife, Tom did turn out to be the killer. She got in the truck and left him at the mine when she was a terrified kid; that's not great, but I don't think she's the big problem here.

Oh it's not that she was a problem, but really, Axel was cheating on her and while Tom was all kinds of crazy, at least he cared about her. I don't blame her for what happened when they were kids, and heck, I could even excuse Axel, cause, as you said, they were still kids. But as an adult, Axel was a creep and his wife knew it and still stayed with him. Granted, in the end he was all about her, but still.

You know, for a slasher, this movie really wasn't so bad. LOL Especially since, unlike most other slashers, it actually invites some good discussions.

Yeah, I read some interesting reviews about Tom as sympathetic character. And I know most of that is residual goodwill from JA's other roles, but we also saw him get pretty screwed, and we didn't have a visceral exposure to his initial screw-up (I at least don't know enough about the tech to have been able to tell what he did wrong, or why it should have been so easy to avoid), so it was easier to empathize with him, especially with Axel such a dick.

ETA: aaaand, a day later, I realize my Freudian slip/typo.
