Slowly but surely

The house is getting clean.  Today I managed both bathrooms and another small section of the bedroom.  (I've managed other sections of it before this, so now it's just a matter of getting the last little bits dealt with.  Like getting the mending done and off the armchair.)

The kitchen was technically finished last week, but I now have to put away all the things that have migrated downstairs and onto the counters.  Same with the dining room table.  Mostly clear, with just a few things that need to travel to other locations and get stored away.

This afternoon's goal - finish cleaning the living room and the really hard part - cleaning the stairs.  Motivation is slipping away, however.  I really wanted to be doing all this on Wednesday night.  At midnight.  Or Friday afternoon when I was supposed to be working.

Off to go get myself motivated, since I know I'll be happier with my space once I'm finished.  At least it's only a few hours work if I say on target.  (Stay on target ... stay on target ...)

Edit/Update 23:45:  The living room is 95% done.  Just a few more things to put away currently sitting on the couch.  The dining room is 99% done.  Just need to figure out what to do with one thing still sitting out.  The migratory items in the kitchen are still sitting on the counter; will deal with those three things in the morning and will run the load of dishes while I'm at it.  And all but two of the stairs have been cleaned off. Come to think it, I also need to straighten the pass-through, too.  Not a lot of work there at least.

Unfortunately in the course of this cleaning exercise I have learned that I now need to replace my vacuum cleaner; it doesn't suck and not in the good way.

In addition to all that, I also managed to get a load of whites done as well.  All that remains to do is to put all the clean clothes away.  (I've been doing loads of laundry all week.)  And I dug out fabric to do the mending with and incidentally pulled a large plastic bags worth of fabric out of the stash to go to Goodwill in the process.  (Don't worry - nothing anyone I know would want for anything.)  This is the first of what I hope will be several purges before December.

My reward for being so good today was to go to the WorldCon Thank You party at Mile Hi Con and hang with friends for three hours.  I got to wear my new-to-me jean jacket and my 4" heels and looked damned fine, thank you very much.  It was a nice way to end the day.

All in all, I think I was very productive today and I'm feeling pretty good about it.  Of course now that the house is clean, I want to have company.   :)
