Omigod, shoes.

Today... yes... I did it. I bought the dress.

My Odyssey at the Mall. Episode One:

Starting early in the morning, we needed to get fuel before we could go anywhere. We were in the Kwik Trip driveway, and were about to drive off, when who do we see but former Miss Teenage Minnesota, beauty pagent queen and Sorority girl, Anne. (One of my mom's former interns at the Eagle Center). So mom asks her "Say, my 16 year old daughter is going to prom, can you point us to a really good place that sells prom dresses?"

Her answer: "Well... of all the places I've ever shopped, the best and cheapest ones I buy at Sears."

Our answer: "......................."

So we go to Sears at the Mall of America. Don't doubt the sorority girls, right?

Walking through the door, there are only refrigerators, washing machines, and dishwashers as far as the eye can see. We think, what the hell were we thinking? There's not going to be any dresses here. This is kitchen appliance and power tool land. There's no way in hell...

Then... the clouds part, as we ascend the escalator to the second floor... there they are... the prom dresses, neatly arranged and enshrined. Like a shiny pink puffalump palace, glitzing in all of it's glory, We had done it.

So I try on a few and find one... THE one. One that has elegance, beauty, will be easy to dance in and... doesn't blatantly scream "PROMDRESS!" I'll be able to wear this to other formal events in the future. ANNNNNNDDD... I snagged it for much much much less than $100. And this is including the shoes, bras, tights and all that. It was exiting... considering the last time I went dress shopping for myself was when I was seven.

And then I was assulted by a very persistant woman with a thick French accent who kept complimenting my hair and kept telling my how pretty it was and kept insisting it was the most beautiful hair she had ever seen.

And then she tried to sell me a hair straightener.

Sears. Prom Shopping. Whod'a thunk it? I've been to the mall. I guess I'm legally sixteen. :P

So then Ben took me to Mrs. Johnson's house for a Speech sections afterparty with pizza, billiards, and "Moulin Rouge". I didn't get to see Ben... or talk to him really... for very long. as he had to leave for another obligation, but the man leads a busy life. :) I hope that he had a good time, and I hope that Florence has a happy Birthday.

It was great seeing Geoff and Michelle. I had forgotten how much fun those two were. Especially during a movie. We had a blast. We did what we did during "Hellboy"where we compared and assigned parts in the movie to our friends.

I was voted as Satine... surprisingly. I think it's because of my hair.

Anyway... I'm beat.

G'dnight.
