went to the museum, saw Ajarn Gai's abstract prints. Simple, but the addition of gold leaf made them interesting. The museum was smaller than I expected (although the building was quite large), so it only took about an hour. lunch at Suan Dok vegetarian restaurant (18 bht). One of the dishes was just flat-out too spicey and I couldn't eat it.
Headed home after lunch, read for a while (at which point I realized that I'd left my notebook at the last internet cafe), took a nap.
I wish someone had told me two years ago that there's a new subfield, political ecology, which is exactly the kind of work I'm interested in doing. It would have saved me a lot of time. Instead I had to come to the ideas on my own, slowly and painfully. Sigh. But I'm here now, and I've got a good collection of books to read from. So many books, so little time...
