"Here," she hands him something that looks remarkably like a wrist watch, only there is no display. "Don't turn it on."
She stands with her arms crossed, her voice sparking with irritation as she recites the specs. "Man portable cloaking device, lasts three hours. DNA keyed to the operator. No visual distortion, by wearer or viewer. One mild side effect, harmless, temporary, lasting an unknown duration."

"This would be the part where you," she drawls, her voice pitched low, "say, 'Why thank you River, for selflessly experimenting with the alien technology, so that I might use it in good health and peace of mind.'"

Her hand is trailing down his forearm, over his wrist to his hand and she presses her thumb against the edge of the device. The field actually covers both of them, she notes.
"Oh look. Now you're blue too."
