it's been such a long time since I've written. I don't know why really... it's not as if I've been so wholly engrossed in school, in fact I've been quite the slacker lately. I have less than 50 pages left... I haven't been able to read it the last few days, but hopefully, I'll finish my American Lit paper early tomorrow so that I can finish it tomorrow night.

I understand what you mean about Sabine. I definitely felt a connection with her in the beginning... but I wasn't sure how to feel about her final assesment of Christabel. Part of me understood how Sabine would find it difficult to love someone who wouldn't confide in her, someone who demanded absolute silence to the point of denying the situation. But at the same time, I understood Christabel's silence... so sad.

The Maud/Roland relationship is so understated (and a bit troubled where I am now). You're right that this is a complicated world she's created... I don't think the film could possibly capture everything (unless it were 15 hours long.) But I have a feeling that as long as the film stays true to the spirit of the book, I'll enjoy it.

I see you recently read Mansfield Park, which is really funny because I picked up a few weeks ago and re-read some of my favorite chapters. What other Jane have you read?

Next up for personal reading is Breakfast at Tiffany's...
