Summary: It was breathtaking in person.

It was winter in New York City with icicles hanging from the trees and people hurrying home.

Peter smiled at Elizabeth, “It’s a perfect day to visit the Cloisters. There’s a new exhibit on Christmas through the ages.”

She nodded, “Sounds interesting so lead the way.”

Later

“And there it is, “ as Peter strolled toward the entrance. They bought tickets and looked over the pamphlet.

She pointed, “So down this corridor and left then right to the exhibit.”

There was a docent at the door, “Next tour in ten minutes.”

They sat on a bench looking over the pamphlet while they waited.

“The tour starts now so please line up and follow me. If you have questions, I will pause so you can ask them.” She headed off followed by 11 people.

“And this is the jewel of the exhibit, a partridge in a pear tree by Paul Cezanne, the father of modern art. Look closely to see all the details.

Each pear is different from every other even though there are 18 pears on the tree.” She looked at the group, “Any questions?”

Peter spoke, “I’ve seen replicas but seeing this in person is breathtaking. Thank you.”

“And now follow me out of the exhibit unless you’d like to stay.”

9 people followed her while Peter and Elizabeth stayed to explore the rest of the gallery at their leisure.
