Summary: It was different.

Santa Helena was so different from Madrid with its old buildings and cobblestone streets. Tessa sat on the fountain’s edge and let her fingers brush the water. A shimmer and she was back in Madrid.

Flashback

Tessa looked around and realized that she was in the church of Saint Nicholas, the oldest church in Madrid. Light poured through the stained glass windows creating rainbows on the floor. She felt happy remembering the services and the smell of incense. She could almost hear the chanting that enveloped her and calmed her racing heart. There was a sound and the image faded.

End flashback

“Senorita, I am sorry to bother you but Dona Vera Hidalgo is here for your weekly lesson in running the hacienda.”

“Thank you Marta. Offer her some water. I will be there soon.” She got up and brushed the dirt off her dress. I wish it lasted longer as she saw a rainbow, a reminder of the stained glass windows.
