Summary: He was in charge.
It was the day before Thanksgiving, a perfect fall day with a hint of rain in the air. Inside the Craftsman, Alan was sitting at a table checking off the list. Don and Robin were bringing a green bean dish and dinner rolls while Charlie and Amita had offered to make apple and pecan pies along with cranberry sauce. The turkey was thawing in the fridge while the box of wild and long rice was in the cupboard next to the bag of stuffing. He smiled before getting up and headed over to the credenza to take out the silverware and China.
He set them on top of the credenza before heading to the linen closet for a lacy tablecloth and the white one to go under it. He also took out crisp white linen napkins. The glasses were sitting on the kitchen counter.
Thanksgiving Dinner
The table had been cleared for dessert.
Amita brought the plates and forks to the table while Charlie brought in the pies. “A piece of each?”
There were nods so he cut and sliced before handing a plate to Don, “Past that to Dad then one for Robin and yours is next.” He smiled, “Yours sweetheart and then mine.”
“Delicious.” “Thanks.” “Perfect.”
“Great.” “Wonderful.”
Charlie watched his family eat, “By the way Dad, as you asked I used Mom’s recipes so she always here with us.”
“Thank you son.”
