It was another muggy day in Washington, D.C. without a breeze to make life bearable. Cherry trees lined the Tidal Basin. Olivia was sweating but she knew that her tennis partner felt the same way. “So why are we doing this Abby?”
“Because we agreed that a weekly tennis date helped release the tension and insanity we deal with.”
She smiled, “Beside tennis is all in the wrist. How is yours?”
“Fine considering that I tripped last month. My doctor said that I was lucky and only bruised my fingers.”
“One more game and then back for a shower before work.” She hit the ball. Back and forth until Abby missed.
“Done so grab some water before we head back.”
They headed for the shower. Soon they were done and ready for work. Olivia looked smart in a lacy white blouse over a blue camisole with matching pants over white sandals while Abby wore a black dress covered in pale flowers and white sandals.
The team gathered around the table to discuss their next case. Photographs covered the wall above a whiteboard. Olivia began, “Our next client is Henri Lambert, the CEO of Guerlain’s United States division. He’s been getting threats since he came out as gay. Apparently, someone wants to destroy him and it’s gotten ugly.” She pointed to several photos, “Nasty graffiti, paint on his car, a slashed tire and you can see the rest.”
They moved to view the photos. “Nasty.” “Cruel.” “Is that French?” “Wow, I’ve never seen that symbol.”
“So we need to neutralize whoever this is and stay within the law.”
