Matt and Money and Ice Cream!

So has everyone seen the pics from Entertainment Weekly of a soaking wet Matt Bomer? It should be illegal to be that gorgeous and hot in a soaking wet white shirt, but I'm glad it's not.

So every once in awhile I get an urge to play the lottery. Lots of eights this week, but I didn't play. Today I went out to the convenience store to get lunch. When you order your sandwiches, a printer gives you a slip with a barcode for the cashier. I'd picked up a Coke for J and Whoppers for me and paid for those, but forgot to give her the slip for the sandwiches. The total? My favorite four digit number. I decided that was definitely a sign so I played that and 888.

J decided that she should try her luck and on the way home, pulled out the scratch tickets she hoards under her car's sun visor and bought new ones. She won $500! She was going to go to bingo and I told her to screw that and go to the casino. Then again, that would cater a nice house warming party . . . .

And on the house front, the loan is still making its way through the underwriters. Because the interest rate went down again, everybody and his brother is applying for loans and snapping up property. I want to start the address changes for the utilities, but I don't want to do it until I'm sure the closing date isn't changing.

Long weekend! We'll be over at my mom's on Sunday. I'm making a ridiculously easy and very yummy ice cream cake.

This makes a 9" x 9" pan.

1 box of 12 ice cream sandwiches
1 8 oz or larger tub of whipped cream
Ice cream toppings of your choice (I use carmel and fudge, but the possibilities are endless.)
1 can of peanuts or nuts of your choice.

1. Layer the ice cream sandwiches on the bottom of the pan, breaking the sandwiches to fit.
2. Slather on half the whipped cream.
3. Swirl on toppings and sprinkle peanut or nuts.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3.

What's amazing about this is how it holds up at room temperature if you freeze it overnight. No need to throw it right back into the freezer. I've left it out over half an hour without it turning into a sloppy melted mess.

ETA: Just watched the lottery drawing. No luck for me.
