nah...just going back to a city i once belonged to and feelnig like I dont belong there anymore. you know...
thanks.
p.s: I walk past a old bookstore called Shakespeare and co. on my way to work and back everyday and each time I would think of you - how much you'll love this bookstore!! :)
I would LOVE to walk the same way like you do everyday!!! :) You must go make friends with the people in there. The owner is now a lady call Sylvia, somewhere around my age. Her father who used to own the bookstore is call George and he is a very colourful character.
It is VERY famous. Esp. among aspiring writers. They provide free lodging for them in exchange for some help in the bookshop and at night, they can write using their typewriters etc. Actually, the history stretches before WWII when some lady called Sylvia (whom George's daughter is named after) opened S&Co. but was forced to close because she refused to sell a book to a German officer. Then the space got taken over and after that George took over the space, eventually renamed the shop back to S&Co. Offering the same kind of help to aspiring writers like Sylvia the first (lol). Eh, read the Wiki page la. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakespeare_and_Company_%28bookshop%29
Before Sunset also had a scene in there. You must go INTO the bookshop, you will love it.
Wow i didnt know it has such a colourful history!! You've been there and have met Goerge and Slyvia personally?
I looked up on the 2nd floor last night and it was brightly illuminated with floor-to-ceiling bookshelf on one wall filled with neatly arranged books. Pretty impressive, if you ask me.
Now that the weather is good, i'll try to drop by this place this weekend. Thanks for the heads up!! :)
You'll make new friends?
