This weekend was spent letterboxing, by design and by accident. Saturday the family went to a letterboxing gathering at a state park about an hour from our house. It was neat (as always) to connect faces to boxes and forum posts. On top of that, there was amazing boxing to be had at the park. Someone decided that this park would have a "Battle of the Bands" theme, where people were invited to plant boxes representing their favorite bands. Our logbooks are now decorated with portraits of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young as well as
Jerry Garcia.
I made a little penguin
hitchhiker to plant during the gathering. Instead of tucking him into another box, I let him be assimilated into the
collective. I bet those Borg are happier from the experience.
Saturday night, while unpacking and cleaning up from the day, I realized we brought home some of
Paula Zahn's diamonds. After church on Sunday, Snurf and I drove back to the park to return them to their hiding place. Of course we had to get another box while we were there. This time it was a portrait of
Becker and Fagen. Very cool.
Although the weather turned cooler, it felt so nice to spend time in the woods.
