We got back Monday night from a looooong weekend away for a family wedding in New Hampshire. I'm still battling to catch up even though Reality continues to push me forward. The weekend was amazing - one of those with so many wonderful experiences with family and friends that it couldn't have been only 3 days long. We really should have stretched it one more day, just to relax and enjoy a day off.
Friday morning we managed to get on the road by 9:15am. Everyone was in great spirits. Junior was amused for about an hour by pointing out trucks and cars to us. As that started to wear thin, we let his sister start watching DVDs on our portable TV that we put in the car for the trip. It kept her amused the entire time. Meanwhile, Junior annoyed us with a continual stream of "Ma... ma... ma... ma". Hubby and I would take turns whipping around and saying, "What? What's wrong? Do you have poop in your diaper?" He would give us a disgusted "No." and be quiet for a while. Eventually we annoyed him enough that he stopped annoying us.
It was clear when we left Pennsylvania, but somewhere in New Jersey the rain started. It got heavier and lighter but never stopped the entire trip. Between low visibility, construction zones, and detours due to flooding, it took us 8 hours to get to coastal New Hampshire. I was very frazzled by the time we found our way to the hotel.
After we checked in and laid out the kids' pajamas, we went to the bride & groom's house to meet up with everyone for supper. The lasagna that Marc's older brother made was wonderful. We brought toys for the kids to play on the floor and they were really good. Once they started to wear out, we said our goodnights and made plans to meet everyone the next day.
