The festival ends on Sunday, but we took advantage of the decent weather to spend another afternoon / evening at the festival.
We started in the kids' area - Banana Island. The band was pretty good. Snurf had a good time dancing in front of the stage. We visited the Crayola craft tent. They were celebrating Asian culture today, so Snurf made a psychedelic panda mask and Junior made a day-glo dragon mask.
We picked up free stuff - stickers, balloons, Advil - on the way to the xtra-large Festplatz tent. It was rock night there (in the past, it was all polka all the time). The cover band was great, playing one long medley of 90 second snippets of everything from AC-DC to ABBA. Junior danced up a storm until the volume of the music got to both kids. Too bad. I would have loved to hear more.
We moved on to Volksplatz where a zydeco band was playing. The kids had a chicken finger & fries basket. I had a N.Carolina pork BBQ sandwich with slaw. Marc got a sausage sampler. The chicken sausage with mushrooms and asagio was amazing. Of course we got a mug full of lager!
Hiking up the hill to Main Street, we stopped at our
favorite jewelry store. I had to look at their designs and show Marc what I liked, so he could plan for Christmas. Yay! We also listened to an African women's group.
Finally we walked over to Americaplatz for dessert and to listen to a youth jazz band. The music wasn't quite our style, but the ice cream was amazing. I had a cookie sandwich the size of a saucer. The kids shared a junior waffle sundae that was even bigger. I am so stuffed, two hours later.
Gawd I love this festival.
