Day Ten - Arriving

Who: Isadora & Iridia, Saul & Lizzy
Where: between the barracks and the castle
When: later afternoon
Rating: PG-13 to be safe

Status: Closed, completed
Summary: While Isadora and Iridia are exploring, they're spotted by a Lizzy who wants to pet the 'doggy'. Upon realizing Iridia is not, in fact, a doggy, Lizzy changes her mind. Saul and Isadora introduce themselves and their companions, and explain a little about their backgrounds. Saul has difficulty believing there are other worlds out there, but soon comes to grudgingly accept the possibility of it.

When Saul gets into a little about his situation with Lizzy (and when Lizzy's constant attempts to regain Saul's attention annoy her), Isadora wants to know more about it, and manages to silently convince him to shed the girl for a bit. Saul tricks Lizzy into giving him a bit of time alone with Isadora.

They walk off to complete Saul's errand for Lizzy, and they talk about how Saul wound up saddled with the girl. Isadora is all about attempting to separate the two, mostly because she thinks Saul looks a little beaten down, and beneath that, she believes she sees potential. She makes plans to find him for dinner the next night, and he agrees he'll try to make it.

They'd seen three people so far, and there had been no visible dæmons. Iridia hadn't sensed any, either, and both of them were disturbed and a little disgusted. Isadora had read about worlds like this, of course. Asriel's folly was not so distantly past, and she'd read everything she could get her hands on about that.

So she knew about other worlds, worlds where people had no dæmons, worlds where their dæmons were internalized. It was still vile to see people walking around without them - but she reasoned she'd have to get used to it.

Reaching down, Isadora ran her fingers lightly across Iridia's head. His ears flattened a little, and he glanced up to her. "I still don't like it," he murmured.

"I know," Isadora replied quietly, her lips barely moving, her voice for his ears alone. "I don't, either, but we're here, now, and we'll make the best of it."

The panther sighed heavily before he resumed his survey of their surroundings. This place disturbed and disgusted him, though Isadora had declined the offer to return home, since it came with a stipulation - she might wind up back here, anyway.
