I've been feeling the urge to streamline my "friends" list lately. I'm using this LJ as a meaningful place in which I explore certain sensitive parts of my life, ones which are proving difficult for me to incorporate. I cannot express how highly I value those of you who are willing to discuss these things with me from a wide variety of perspectives!
With that in mind, I'm parting ways with some people with whom either I've never established much of a dialog, or who seem to miss the point much of the time. I'm looking for comments that seem to me to be based on a substantial grasp of what I'm saying (or trying to say). This is admittedly subjective, and I recognize that I'm not a writer (there are reasons I'm a visual artist!), but I want dialog with those who seem to "grok" what's concerning me, and are willing at explore it with me.
I've studied rhetoric and know the techniques one can use to pick apart anything another says. I know some people enjoy doing this, and others do it so routinely that they can't seem to manage another style or discourse. That kind of "debate" is not what I want here. It makes me tired. :)
