I just found out the other day that I am paying $400 more than my neighbor for a comparable unit. I should add that I have lived here for 3 years and my neighbor has only lived here for a few months. I have called all over the city and no one can seem to tell me if what my landlord is doing is illegal or what recourse I have. This is so frustrating! What I have learned is that my building is covered under rent control and my landlord cannot increase my rent more than 4% a year. This is good to know, but what I really want to know is if I can demand a decrease in rent and and does she owe me some recompense for all the rent I've overpaid.
In unrelated, news I think Rue McLanahan is haunting my tivo. My "now playing" menu keeps saying Golden Girls is being recorded even when Golden Girls is not on the and tivo isn't recorded. No matter what I do I can't stop or delete the recording. My tivo has been recording Golden Girls for days, yet there is no episode there.
