I live in Los Angeles proper now. This is confirmed for me each morning when I look out my window as I am running water for coffee and see the "HOLLYWOOD" sign in the distance. Further confirmation appeared this morning on the front gate where I found a "notification of filming" as I stepped out for my morning cigarette. I know intellectually that when it finally happens it will probably be an annoying hassle, but a small, less pragmatic part of my got a little giddy at the possibility of a celebrity sighting right on my front stoop.
The house is well on its way to being in order. I mad my first foray to IKEA last week, which was an adventure in moving in and of itself. The trip to IKEA was necessarily followed by an expedition to the Hollywood Target to find a hammer which resulted in the purchase of a full-blown toolkit (complete with a power drill!). The purchase of the toolkit was a well overdue practical necessity and I think the acquisition of a power drill has to have increased my dyke cred a good ten points. At least.
So now my days are spent alternately assembling new furniture and engaging in conjecture regarding the last installment of Harry Potter. Of course, I have better things to do in my spare time (read Marx, revise chapter, try to improve lines of communication with the ex) but this is so much more fun. Besides, I think it will be easier for me to remain focused once I have read Deathly Hallows and put that all to rest.
For now I am counting the hours until I get to see OoTP and hoping that this film franchise redeems itself after the fiasco commonly known as Goblet of Fire. This movie has to be better, though, if only for the fact that I have very high hopes for the final fight sequence in the Ministry as well as the Weasley twin's grand exit.
Right now, however, I have to turn my attention to more practical matters: some laundry and a bit of housekeeping. Hopefully if I can keep myself busy then the hours will just melt away.
