The Ceiling Died!

The bathroom floor dropped into the lounge this morning!

Ok, I'm exaggerating but it might as well have considering the noise it made. It was about 5am so none of my senses were really functioning properly but it sounded a bit like a bookshelf made out of planks and breeze blocks collapsing in on itself... I went downstairs and there was insulation fiber and chunkified dust everywhere with two thick slabs of plaster a little bit shorter than my legs lying on the floor. Oh yeah, and a hole in the ceiling about two meter square.

I got back from work today and had a Velma from Scooby Doo moment with the torch. You can see all the supporting planks between the hole and the bathroom floor above but it's right where the bath is. Alfie says it was probably a slow leak that's caused it but now I'm scared to have a shower incase the planks have been water damaged as well. I just have visions of a Benny Hill moment where I'm stood in the bath and just drop through into the livingroom while the boys are watching TV or something!

Considering the door hasn't been mended either I'm starting to wonder if I should start withholding rent or something. But I know what happened to the door now - Apparently Sam's key got stuck then broke off in the lock. So he did the logical thing. He "kicked the bastard in". The way he said it made me laugh too much to be mad.

That happened this morning but, just to explain the mood choice, my sense of surprise was renewed since I just finished watching the latest "Lost" on Ch 4. If I had cable I'd be watching the next one *right now*!  'Nuff said.
