(no subject)

So in an effort to stave off boredom and distract myself from my illness, I've been zipping through "Rome." Just finished the 1st season and enjoyed it a great deal, certainly more than I expected to. I am disappointed that they killed off a character I liked very much but that seems to be trendy these days. Spectacular porduction values, attention to detail, and some great acting on the whole.* I loved Ciaran Hinds as Caesar, in particular.

I also watched "The New World," which I also had very low expectations for, given the usual treatment of the subject, and was gratifyingly surprised. Again with the high production values! Details of costume, architecture and cultural nuance were quite well done. It was great to see real attention given to the Native culture (Alquonquin), language, and persepctive...without getting overly "preachy." And it was just gorgeously shot.

Otherwise, I feel like crap and I am suppose to be giving a talk to the museum's docents on Tuesday--I only hope I feel well enough to get something together.

And sometimes I'm easy: blood, battles, and boobs...a winning combination!
