(no subject)

*Finally* watched the new VM episode. First of all it took an inordinate amount of time to find a torrent, then the download took ages to complete. But, on the positive side, I now only have (hopefully, if I can find a torrent on Wednesday morning) three days to wait until the finale. Whee!

If I just bought the DVD-recorder that I've been meaning to get for ages, maybe I could set up some sort of exchange with an American Doctor Who fan. They could upload new VM episodes for me as they aired, and I could do the same with Doctor Who for them. I wonder if such schemes exist.

Still on the subject of VM, I couldn't resist donating to this campaign for a season 3 started by a group of posters from the Television Without Pity boards. This Tuesday there's going to be a plane circling the distance between the UPN headquarters and the new CW headquarters with a "Renew Veronica Mars!" banner flying behind it. Crazy, but I love it. As well as the plane, there's a huge drive underway to donate S1 DVDs to libraries across the US in an effort to hook more viewers, as well as various media campaigning. I don't know if these things actually work or not, but I love the spirit behind it. And I'd happily pay money for a third season of this show.

Another show I'm hopelessly addicted to at the moment is American Idol. Which is weird, because there's no single one of the contenstants that I passionately want to win, which is usually the case for me with these things. I've done 180 degree turns on both Chris (who initially I loved, but am now getting sick of - just LIGHTEN UP godamnit it) and Elliot (who initially I disliked, but now I love - he seems so genuinely nice, and his voice is just so...mmmm). I don't like Taylor, who's too comedy-uncle for my tastes and although Paris had a lot of things going for her, I found her voice to be a bit too shouty for me. Katherine is quite hit and miss - this week in particular, what with the awful year-of-her-birth song, but then the *fantastic* KT Tunstall song, which I thought she totally rocked. I miss Kelly Pickler, if only because I enjoyed how she had to misunderstand (or pretend to misunderstand - I didn't care, it was entertaining either way) a different word every week. I also miss Ace, because we had fun betting how long it would take for him to break into falsetto each week. Out of the remaining contestants, I want either Kat or Elliot to win. But somehow I think it's going to be between Chris and Taylor.

I don't know how many vidders on my friends-list watch AI (except you sdwolfpup) but did anyone else take a moment to chuckle a little condescendingly at Paris' exit video? It was like the most literal fanvid ever. It was to Daniel Powter "You Had A Bad Day" (as always), and it was like:

Cause you had a bad day (Paris pulls down the corners of her eyes and pouts exaggeratedly)
You're taking one down (Paris crouches down to the floor whilst singing madly)
You sing a sad song (Paris sings, looking wistful)
Just to turn it around (Paris turns around)
You say you don't know (Paris shakes her head and raises her shoulders)
You tell me don't lie (Paris wags her finger at the camera in an instructive manner)
You work at a smile (Paris smiles)
and you go for a ride (Paris gets a piggy-back)

Though in all fairness, it did cut on the beat. So ten points from me on that front, at least.
