Haven't posted here in a while...

Seems like myspace is pretty much taking up all my time in that department ^^ As requested, I'll post about my first few days on the job.

Day 1: Lots of sitting through training sessions, basically. Total information overload. At the end of the day, I had to teach a lesson to a staff member. The guy was nice enough putting up with me. I actually didn't find this part as nerve wracking as I thought it would be. Everyone was telling me how awful it was...but since I knew it was a staff member who would in turn know that I suck, I didn't feel so bad ^_^

Day 2: More training sessions, but this time I had two real lessons. Two real ones in one day is kind of daunting. I know these pple are paying good money to get a decent lesson. I kind of fumbled through the first one. It was a D level with three people. I can already say that I don't like teaching groups of three. When it comes to the role play, I forget who I told to do what. I want everyone to get a turn in role x, but then I forget who I told to do what...geh. Two people are the perfect group. One person and you can't be lazy at all ^^; I did really well on my second lesson tho. It was a B level with two people. This one girl, Asuka, was absolutely adorable. We did talking about pets. I was happy because Jerry said that's one of the best lessons he's ever seen from a newbie in training ^o^ So some improvement there. I was sad though, because there was a bit of irony in it...I spent the whole lesson talking about my pets, then got home and found out from my brother that my cat had been killed by some stray dogs. Sucked. Eh, I don't want to think about that. Anyway, after work Jerry invited us out for drinks since it was Evan's birthday. (Evan is another guy in my training group.) So we went to Spat's and I had a Malibu rum and OJ. It was actually very good. We hung about there for two hours, then went out to eat at an udon restaurant on the Namba Walk. We stayed there for another couple of hours. I had a great geeky conversation about gaming and anime with Jerry and Evan...I felt kind of sorry for Emily, the other girl, because she obviously wasn't interested ^^; I like Jerry, and hopefully I get to say hi to him from time to time. J&J, he asked me to tell him embarassing stories about you guys so he could have a 1-up on you....but for the life of me, I couldn't think of anything! You guys are too decent ^_-

Day 3: A few more training sessions, three lessons. A lot of time here was spent planning for lessons actually. At first I was kind of frantically planning my lesson and my backups...but my last lesson I was forced to do without planning because they took the lesson I planned during the hour while I was planning u_u; So I quick-picked another, and I almost think it was easier without planning it cuz I didn't keep looking down at my paper. I'd like to have some time to at least scan thru the pics and stuff before I begin, but I get the feeling on my first real day there won't be time. I'm kind of slow getting setup, so I'll have maybe just enough time to look at their markoff and pick something and just fly with it. How does anyone have time to plan anyway? I don't see how it can be done. After work I went out to Konan, which is indeed huge. I got another towel and some packing stuff. Then I bought groceries and came home.

Oh yeah! I had this old man in a three-way D lesson who was hilarious. I could barely hear him, but I was doing the "Telling a Story" lesson. His story was that a week ago he was in Kyoto with some coworkers, and he had too many liquors and fell in the river ^o^ He wasn't really smiling and it was taking some effort for me to hold it in, I tell you ^_^

Today I went and explored Shinsaibashi some more. I kept asking where stuff was and people kept naming landmarks that I don't know, so I figured I'd better go check it out. I can now locate Bic Camera, Tower Records, Dotonburi, and Toho Cinemas. I also can get to the bank and the Softbank. I sadly forgot how to get to Denden Town. I thought it was exit 13, but when I got out there nothing looked familiar and I was tired anyway, so I just came home. I reorganized my closet with some new little containers I bought. Then I made myself salmon and fried rice for supper. It was excellent...I daresay the best salmon I ever had. I've gotta do that again!

I've been watching Code Geass...and I really need to find out if CLAMP actually wrote this. The more I look at it the more I see the wacky elements of their older stories. Lelouch is practically Kamui 2, and what with all the goofy costuming in the middle of doomsday scenarios...wow. I really, really want to like this show...but it's not good enough to be Seed's successor, I can say that much. It's not bad by any means, but certainly not amazing either.

So tomorrow I go to work at 3:10, starting on my regular schedule. I'll teach four lessons and have other stuff to do too. I think I have two periods to plan and then two of training and four lessons. Not a bad deal. Well, I'm supposed to be studying kanji, so...
