Every time I see the newest version of Pride & Prejudice (with Keira Knightly and the delicious Matthew Macfadyen) it makes my heart sing. I love, adore, cherish that film, and I don't even like Jane Austen (although Emma is a breezy read of hers, and not too loaded with the author's usually huge amount of description and politics). Keira Knightly is brilliant, if not convincing, as Elizabeth. I say not convincing because they declare Elizabeth to be very plain, especially compared to Jane, her sister, and Keira is most definitely one of the most beautiful people on the planet. But other than that, her portrayal is both innocent and raw, and her relationships with those around her are real. The movie is brilliantly soundtracked and full of energy and light...
And it helps that Mr. Darcy (the beautiful Matther Mcfadyen) is absolutely and utterly brilliant. He is played as tempermental and stubborn as ever, and yet, with eyes and hands and a heart that melt you right from the get go.
Man, that movie is awesome. I really ought to get the DVD, for I've only seen it twice, but it's a good one.
That's my ooze for the day, Happy, Blessed Easter, and Happy Birthday Matt, love you.
