Journal Specifics onwingsofsnark January 1 2009, 19:24:14 UTC
I think we need to define how the journals work outside of 'Magic!' because there are characters whose powers stray into the realm of altering items on a large scale.

The reason this is relevant? Nagato Yuki's abilities are to 'alter data' as she defines it. What does this mean to everyone else? She can alter items to better suit her needs. In canon, she alters a baseball bat that looks completely normal, except that it has the ability to always hit a ball thrown at it. When she removes the 'altered data' it goes back to being normal.

Why does that even matter? Haruhi asked Yuki to alter the journals for her new business and create sparkly ads within it that bother people about her new business.

Whether she will be able to alter the whole journal system, or if the group will be forced to simply do it all by hand is up to you all.

However, we need to define how these journals have their power, and what connects them all, for future reference.

I agree with this. A lot. Especially because we have characters capable of these things.

The fundamental problem with defining Journal Specific and how the 'tech' of Rivelata runs is how the Garnet factors into this, and I just realized that that borders on revealing main plot so uhm. Crap.

We can get the journals' power defined and keep it mod-locked, and refer to cases like Yuki's on a case-by-case basis, couldn't we?
