Dist intertwined his fingers and rest his chin on them, the light hitting his spectacles as he tilted his head. The lenses flashed ominously. "Jade," he cooed, his voice shrill but melodic, as if he were singing the name. "What brings you here, to see me? .....Alone." He giggled. The sound of a 35-year old man dissolved in high-pitched giggling seemed rather disturbing, but fit the smarmy expression plastered on his face. Perhaps it was more of a self-indulgent chuckle. Who knew.

Upon realization that Jade had efficiently stated his reason for the meeting, Dist's grin grew even winder- his pale face lighting up with glee. "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh," he gasped. "You wish to accompany ME?! What a....surprise! And after excluding me from your little kidnapping scheme?"

What a perfect opportunity to get on Jade's good side, to show off his skills as a fontech genius once again! There was no way Jade could not be impressed by Kikuchiyo. But he wasn't going to let Jade get off that easily.

"...what if I don't want you to come with me..." Dist trailed off menacingly, knowing full well he DID want Jade to accompany him. Desperately, even. But it was a bluff he felt he needed to make to secure whatever shred of dignity he still felt he possessed.

Jade twitched. Visibly. Even after all these years, the way Dist insisted on saying his name was like nails being dragged painfully on a chalkboard.

Alas, killing him on the spot, while it would probably do wonders for his current mood, would not really achieve anything productive, on the contrary. So, he admitted to himself reluctantly, Dist had to live to annoy him another day.

And while he understood making his former, never really childhood friend believe that Jade indeed wanted to spend time with him might be the most efficient way to end this and make his way to the hacker's location without more whining on Dist's part... threats could work quite as well and be more satisfying.

"You do not want me to come with you? Shall I look outside to ascertain whether rappigs have discovered flight yet?" answered Jade in a wry tone.

"Moreover, whether or not you want me along is irrelevant. I am coming. If you wish to disagree with me, I suggest you start running now."

Dist hadn't expected Jade to take that route.

"Forceful, aren't we?" He mock-pouted, taking a deep and dramatic sigh. "I suppose your presence won't annoy me TOO much." Leaning back in his chair, he examined the dried blood on his gloved fingers idly, hoping he came off as uncaring. However, inside, he felt his chest beat rapidly with excitement and apprehension.

What does he want? Dist wondered. He normally wouldn't have cared if Jade came along but Rivelata had reminded him to double-check his former friend's motives. "Just so you know," he continued, standing up with his journal in hand, mouth twisted into his usual grin, "you had better not be up to something. I know you, Jade. You're a snake and I can see right through it!" He usually couldn't. But no matter. "I have friends in high places, and they're set on revenge mode." Imagining Kikuchiyo, his grin widened ferociously.

"So when does the Colonel want to head off then?" Dist added in a simpering tone, his arms crossed in fake impatience.

Jade smiled at Dist, a chilling smile, completely devoid of amusement, and answered him drily: "Is it my birthday already? You know I love people in high places, they make such a lovely sound as they tumble down."

If Dist thought Jade would tell him what he was planning, he was in for a rude awakening, as the colonel knew all too well that the god-general could not be trusted with any secret unless the aim was to actually have it broadcast in record time to most of the country.

And he didn't want his prey to know he was coming until it was too late.

"When shall we head off? There is no time like the present..."
