WHO: Sakamoto Ryouma
spangledsamurai, Kuja the new employee
de_novo_viii and anyone else who wants to check out the store...
WHAT: Grand opening of his spice/condiment/everything in between shop
WHERE: One block east of the Market District
WHEN: today
He had spent three whole days setting the small shop up. With the help of a few locals, he had managed to put together an assortment of spices and plants for his store. Some even offered products like spice cookies and herbal medicine and the like. He took what was offered and promised to pay the people back.
Why did he set up a shop that specializes in selling spices? Well, he was in the tropics and spice was plentiful, not that he knew anything about its demand. Back in his world, those Westerners were always running around and invading countries for spice and he hoped this place wasn't so different. Second, plants weren't as messy to take care of as compared to animals, and herbs are usually low maintenance plants so the shop can be taken cared of by just one man. Third, he hoped they would make good for bartering with other people. It was also why he took the time to stock up on condiments, seeing as how there seems to be a huge demand for mayonnaise from the Shinsengumi. It would be unwise to get on their bad side for now. There were also some other people who interested him. Along with the Shinsengumi from the other world came people who seemed to be on his side, those who were loyal to the emperor. He was curious about their dealings, and he wanted to help them out of loyalty to his cause. And this man with an eyepatch who smelled of opium, he reminded him a lot about the man he was supposed to build a navy for.
But the main reason was because he simply wanted to set up a shop to learn more about the economics and politics of Rivelata. How can a country survive when the people give so much away without getting anything in return? Why is there a need to pull people out of their worlds to such a place?
Sakamoto sighed as he placed the quill next to his bloodied journal and put the OPEN sign on the door.
