K' was glad for a distraction. 'Rivelata' was driving him crazy. He was bored, irate, anxious and stressed all at once. The journal was a constant annoyance, though he found himself looking in it more than he would of liked to admit. K' hated talking to people in person, written words weren't quite as aggravating. It felt like he had been 'socializing' more in the journals than he had in his entire life. Granted, three years wasn't a long time, but they were all he had.
As he stalked down the beach in black leather, the prospect of a good fight was almost soothing. Fighting was all he knew, to sit around waiting for Maxima and Kula to show up was maddening. The wind ruffled short, silver hair and despite the darkness of the night- red sunglasses were still perched on his tan nose.
He stood at the waters edge, his right hand seemed to itch and burn- begging to let the flame he so carefully guarded loose. Clenching his gloved fingers into a fist, his full lips were pressed into a straight line. he could see a figure in the distance, was it her?
Aah, was that her meal for tonight? She had to smirk. The thing that caught her eye first were those ridiculous sunglasses. Wearing sunglasses in the dead of night, with hardly a moon to light the way. Wasn't that a bit unwise? How could he possibly see a damned thing?
Wasn't there an 80's song about that?
She narrowed her eyes, reaching down to her boots to unsheathe the daggers she kept stowed there. She tossed them to the side as she drew closer, kicking sand behind her to cover them. She didn't want to tempt herself with them, even if she couldn't manage to find them again afterward.
Selene smiled pleasantly -- well, as pleasantly as she could manage, fangs digging into her lower lip -- and took a firm stance about ten paces away from the man.
"Nice glasses," she mocked, voice heavy with the lilt of a British accent. "Tres chic."
"Nice face. A shame I have to break it." His voice was more akin to a growl than anything, low and rough. K' always wore his sunglasses. His eyes were sensitive to the light, it gave him migraines. It was nighttime, but he could see well enough. Once he began fighting, there would be more than enough light.
She was pretty. Not that it had mattered. He had fought against plenty of pretty girls. Had been hurt by plenty of pretty girls. Looks, age and sex didn't mean shit when fighting was involved. A narrowing of amber-hued eyes behind crimson lenses, and he lifted his hand. Flames began to lick over red-gloved fingers, brightly burning in the darkness of the night.
Fire? This would be quite a little spat. It could be argued that this was playing dirty, as she certainly didn't have any aces like that up her sleeve. It didn't matter though. This would be over soon enough, flaming fist or not. Selene vaguely wondered if his blood would taste like fire.
With that thought driving her, exciting her to the point of a frenzy, she started forward with a jolt. Her fist pulled back, readying her first strike. She would have come at him and landed a painful set of knuckles right against his cheekbone... had she not dropped to her knee at the last moment. Her left leg came out to take a swipe behind his knees. To knock him on the ground after a brief distraction, that was her first aim.
She was fast. He liked that. Nothing was worse than a pitiful opponent. Leather-clad arms moved quickly to guard his face, only for the strike to never land. Her kick took him at the knees, sending K' to the sand on his side. Quickly, he pulled himself to a kneeling position. K' was half the size and weight of many of the men he had fought, but his leanly muscled body lent itself well to agility.
The air only briefly knocked out of him, he lashed out with a firey fist. His strikes were not only deadly in their actual landing power, but for the trail of hotter than hell flame that followed them.
Selene managed to slip to the side quickly enough for the flame to simply graze her shoulder. She hissed quietly as the skin crackled, sizzling into smouldering blisters. The woman narrowed her eyes, gritting pointed teeth and shifting to aim a well-placed kick with the sharp heel of her boot, right beneath his chin.
Sand wasn't the most stable fighting ground, she was coming to learn this as she jumped back to her feet. She was learning to compensate quite gracefully though. It was just a bit more slippery, and sank in for a few moments as her foot landed. The proper distribution of weight would correct that.
If he were looking carefully enough, K' would notice the burn on her shoulder slowly knitting together, glazing over with fresh muscle and flesh almost as quickly as it had been inflicted.
K' wasn't exactly used to the sand either. Thankfully his boots had pretty good grip, digging into the sand rather than sliding over it. He would have to make a mental note, that next time he was going to brawl with someone- to do it on the street. He was glad for his sunglasses, getting the grit in his eyes would of been a bitch.
Speaking of bitch- a heel caught him in the chin, jerking his head up painfully. K' could taste the metal of blood in his mouth, and he swallowed it casually. A trickle of the red ichor leaked from the corner of his lips, before he wiped it with the back of an arm to smear it across tan cheek.
It was then that he noticed Selene's skin, previously burnt, now good as new. A scowl, and he kicked up dirt at the woman's face, following it with another handful of arcing flame. "What the hell are you?!" A snarl, throat raw from another swallowed mouthful of blood.
Selene chuckled at the question. There was no avoiding that new blast of fire. She had sacrificed a bit of her own defenses as she leaped forward, dashing toward the man to sink a fist full into the fleshiest part of his stomach, to catch him just below his ribcage with all her weight.
That gout of flame had caught her full on at her side, melting through the vinyl and boning of her corset to splash the searing PVC against the left side of her torso. Once the pain actually registered, it made her grimace, jaw set tight against a groan as she stumbled back again. Bright eyes, becoming bluer by the moment, narrowed at the man.
"What am I? What are you?" Selene snapped, only trembling a moment longer before the singed skin began to heal itself over again. She dashed forward again, fangs flashing with a wicked smile.
He hadn't expected her to go THROUGH the fire. Taking a punch was one thing, taking FIRE was another. K' was honestly caught of guard, startled. The punch that followed through the flames crunched into his abdomen, easily knocking the air out of him and sending him flying onto his back in the sand.
His sunglasses were remarkably still on his face. Through crimson he saw her flesh began to knit itself again, the nasty burn had had caused disappearing into itself. K' had gone up against all sorts of humans and 'things', each with different powers and abilities- but none that seemed so.. invincible. It didn't mean he would give up though. Sucking air back into his lungs as she dashed at him, he rolled onto his side and kicked out viciously with a booted heel twice, hoping to catch her head on. "A monster, like you!"
The boots that caught her full-on beneath the chin sent her slamming down to the sand. She tasted blood... her own of course, she'd almost bitten the tip of her tongue clean off. But it was somewhat difficult to discern with her head swimming like this, with silver flecks dancing before her eyes. That was quite a hit, and surely it would have sent any normal human into unconsciousness.
Selene squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head violently, trying to clear it of the fuzziness. He was still on the ground... this was her chance. She grinned, her heel lashing out again to smash into his groin. If that didn't disable him for a few moments, nothing would.
"Monster?" she drank back the blood that still seeped slowly from her tongue. "I don't appreciate that very much at all."
He felt his boots made solid contact, and heard Selene fall back with a spray of sand. Considering he had put the brute force of his legs behind the powerful kicks, the idea that she could be anything but KO'ed was unbelievable.
He had been moving to get up when a sharp heel struck out at him, he moved, but not in time. Rather than scoring him in the groin, she caught on his inner thigh. It wasn't any less painful or disabling. A sharp hiss from between clenched teeth as stars danced behind his eyes from the pain. His leg, he couldn't move it. She had either torn something, or the muscle had spasmed and froze.
Fuck. fuck. fuck. fuck. fuck. K' knew that if he couldn't stand, he was screwed. The woman was still coming at him. He could only do so much groundwork- it wasn't like he could try and kill her, the bitch didn't die. K' didn't actually like killing in the first place, he avoided it when he could.
"Why you-" He growled at her almost like a threatened animal, hurling a fistful of flame at Selene. It was meant more to fend her off, than as an offensive attack.
Selene hadn't quite been expecting him to lash out again while she was so close. She pressed herself down against the ground, narrowing her eyes at her meal. He was a feisty thing... this was going to be an extremely satisfying drink. It was always satisfying when she had to work for it.
She smacked that wrist out of the way, gripping his forearm tightly to slam it down onto the ground, shoving the flame beneath the sand. She lifted one leg over his waist, straddling his torso. She certainly didn't weigh much, and he could probably throw her right off, if she hadn't moved as quickly as she did.
Her fangs were longer than they had been a few moments previous, her eyes bluer, almost glowing the color of a clear summer midday sky. She reached up to take a handful of that silver hair, forcing his head back to expose his throat more readily.
The sand around his gloved hand grew hotter than hell, he could feel it melting through his gloved fingers. He had to stop the flames, encasing his hand in glass was not an option.
K' struggled violently beneath Selene, though his movement was hampered by her weight and position on his abdomen and by the pain in his leg. Before his head was forced back, he caught a glimpse or her face. The brightly burning blue of her eyes, the fangs- Fangs? her brute strength was stronger than his own, her body near fucking invincible- What the hell was she?!
"Let go of me you demon-bitch!" K' could feel his chest rising and falling heavily, a thin sheen of sweat making his tan chest gleam in the moonlight. If she could see through his sunglasses, she would see the panic in his eyes. He had been through a lot in the three years of his life he had been awake for, but nothing like this. He didn't know what she wanted from him, but it make his blood pound furiously in his ears.
"More insults," She narrowed her eyes, unable to help the cruel smirk that crept across her lips. "You know, you should really lean to hold your tongue."
She leaned down to lie her mouth across his neck, searching out the pulse. Ah, there it was... that warm, throbbing vein. Ooh, yes. She wrapped her lips around it carefully, sinking those sharp fangs straight through his flesh to puncture the thick vein. No matter how many times that sweet, coppery fluid gushed into her mouth, it still made her shiver pleasantly when she started drinking.
K' never ran out of insults, they were the easiest thing to learn. An insult could be used in any situation, effectively hiding ignorance or fear. He had never been taught manners or how to hold his tongue, among other things. Like why the sky was blue, how cars worked and what exactly the sun and moon were doing up in the sky. They were things he often thought about, a constant aggravation that everyone else seemed to know so much more about life and the world than he did.
The harsh words that had been on the tip of his tongue disappeared into a small sound in the back of his throat as Selene's fangs punctured his neck. K's back immediately arched off the sand, fingers grasping at the sand uselessly. Through crimson tinted sunglasses he stared wide-eyed at the moon, pupils retracted to mere pinpoints.
Selene's skin almost began to glow as she drank from the man's neck. It was like she was being revitalized, slowly making her new again. She was so happy he wasn't fighting back. She hated it when they did that... like they were denying their own destiny, trying to fight fate. They never got away. There was really no point.
...they almost never got away. She didn't know why she didn't notice it before, but as the sun began peeking over the horizon of the ocean, she noticed it in a violent way. Her body jolted, and she whimpered quietly. This would have to wait until later. She bit into her tongue, spreading a bit of her own blood over the wounds on his neck. Her exposed skin began to sizzle, smouldering softly like meat on a fire. Fucking christ, why didn't she bring her coat?
She leaped to her feet again and took off across the beach. She only hoped she could make it back to the Inn before she burst into flame.
