WHO: Batman's Rescue Group and the captives WHAT: The rescue party has finally arrived! But what will it take to free the captives and escape? WHERE: The caves beneath the waterfall WHEN: Day 27 (AKA the neverending day)
She had lost count of the days. Each one had been as endless and unsettling than the last. The cell was filled with restlessness. Straining hopes with a mixture of despair. The voices and garnet lit faces were all now a familiar sight and ambiance, along with water and smells which accompanied their prison.
So when the team of rescuers came with a shining announcement, the change was almost indescribable.
"Cecil? Cain?" Rosa whispered, approaching the front of the cell as her eyes squinted through the light. "Cecil?" She tried again, loud enough so that her gentle voice cracked. She approached the leader as he assigned tasks to the others outside of the cell, hands gripping the bars as she tried to see as much as she could of his face. She furiously pushed away the matted golden curls from her eyes, attempting to place his features. Her vision was hazy and blurred with tears, mingled with relief and denial. She only needed to scan the rest of the chamber briefly. She couldn't hear anyone calling her name.
Automatically, Rosa retreated back into the prison at the order, stumbling slightly over the uneven ground at her heels. She didn't stop until her back met the wall, crouching down to wait. Her face was buried in her arms, over her knees.
"Guy Cecil was a member of Cross Marian's rescue team-- which, apparently, encountered rather serious trouble, and Cain Highwind was unable to connect with either of the rescue parties until after they had already left. But both seemed concerned for your health and well-being, Rosa, and neither appear to be seriously injured."
Bruce managed to conjure a light smile for her as he spoke (though his mind was primarily occupied with the problem of freeing them), waiting for Gokudera to come with his explosives to attempt to break open the prison-- or, at least, confirm his suspicions that these bars were magically reinforced and could not be broken by any of the tools they had readily available, which would likely mean they'd have to do something to the other item of interest within the room: the crystal.
His words and reassurances quietly echoed in her head as she waited. Everywhere a fresh new wave of conversation seemed to wash over the room. People giving instructions, bringing back order and care and concern. As much as she tried to follow the tangents, all so very important, it was more difficult than ever to focus. Strange, considering that she had kept herself as determined and clear headed as possible for this long. Just waiting for him.
But he wasn't Cecil. She didn't quite understand what he had said about Guy Cecil, even though he also sounded vaguely familiar. But there was no mention of Harvey. Highwind, on the other hand.. He didn't come, after all.
Rosa didn't yet know or understand why or how this leader with the familiar eyes knew her name. She would, eventually. For now she was only sure that, perhaps, they had met before.
