Adam disliked the rain, simply because it usually made a mess of his plans. It was impossible to move about with his spell in the rain, and it often came at the most inopportune times. Always a wrench into his plans. At the same time, it brought some unexpected things to the overall scheme, and a slew of challenges. The rain was also useful in masking things.

He sat under the small overhang in front of his shop, appearing to enjoy the rain casually. Watching the people go by was always excellent means to gain information.

Ashe was hurrying along the street, thankful that this part of town hadn't been flooded. Yet. As much as she hated to admit it, she was getting fatigued. Jumping across rooftops in flats when you're used to heels is much more taxing than one might think.

That's when, from the corner or her eye, she saw Adam. She hesitated for a moment before making a beeline for him. You cannot help those who do not know you can help.

"Adam, I...inside. Please," is all she said, keeping her voice deceptively low.

He looked up in confusion, a frown coming to his face. "Excuse me?" He called, still keeping with that gentlemanly side of him. After a moment, he nodded, calmer. "This way," He moved to hold open the door for her. Adam had a feeling who it was- and it was an interesting development, certainly. He could use that to his advantage.

He feigned cluelessness as to who his visitor was, keeping a touch of confusion and uncertainly in his features. "I'm not quite sure what this is about."

"There's not much time," the Queen said quickly, dropping her act. She hoped he caught on soon enough, as night was falling, and she wanted to check up on Alma and Yuu before retiring for the night.

"You must evacuate to a shelter. The flooding is showing no signs of slowing, and the animals become more aggressive and dangerous by the day. Please, Adam." The last thing she wanted was for him to get caught up in her plan to frame Sylar, especially if he'd put in an appearance.

Realization dawned on his face, with a touch of relief. "Your Majesty! ...Forgive me, if I'd known you were going to visit, I would have tidied up." He joked only lightly, a slight grim edge to his smile. It was only another moment before he sobered, giving a nod.

"I understand. It has been getting rather... intense, around the city." Adam added a hint of concern to his features. Hesitation crept into his face, then, turning and opening his mouth to speak. Uncertainty tainted his voice. "I... There's something that's been bothering me, Your Majesty."

Ashe smiled slightly, shaking her head. "Please, speak. There are few whose opinions I would rather hear than yours." That were here in the city, anyway. Sometimes Ashe wondered if she were getting too soft, bueing alone as she was. There was, of course, Penelo and Larsa, but she had always been with a Vossler or Basch. She was beginning to suspect their absence was making her more susceptible to letting men into her life.

It wasn't necessarily a bad thing. She harbored nothing but platonic feelings for any of them--Roy, the Green Hornet, Boba, Adam--but she knew the more people she let in, the more she would be hurt. And yet, here she was.

He gave a slightly nervous smile. "You're far too kind, Your Majesty."

Adam turned to retrieve his journal and flipped through the pages intently. He turned to one page in particular.

"Ever since I saw... this, I can't get it out of my mind. It's given me a bad feeling about all of this. I... I don't mean to slander his name without solid proof, but I've been concerned."

"You think he is the perpetrator?" Ashe furrowed her eyebrows in thought, shaking her head. "Quite the brazen attitude..." She shook her head. "You think he may be the Shepherd?" It wasn't impossible. Not exactly.

"...after so long, to reveal himself so carelessly...I like it not." It was either a trap or a misunderstanding. Ashe was leaning towards the latter.

He was taking such great care to dangle the bait in front of her, and yet she still dismissed it. There was more than enough evidence to support his claim. It was only a matter of finding the right way to bring it to her attention.

Adam kept the concerned expression on his face. "...I didn't think he was the sort, at first. But at the same time... I thought nothing was odd about Sylar, either."

He paused, frowning with a look that showed slight frustration with himself. He gave a light shake of his head.

"I remember he's always disliked off-worlders, really. I know it's a silly idea for me to say this. I... I don't have much to back up my claim. But it gives me a bad feeling."

Ashe bit her lip. It was too hasty to dismiss Jam, even for her. She had little to no information regarding the Shepherd. Who was she to ignore the warnings of a native?

"You're right on all counts. I'll look into it." She tilted her head to the side, sighing. "And Adam...I stayed behind to do what I could for the citizens of Rivelata. That includes you. Do not hesitate to call for me--for Amal--should you need anything."

Adam seemed relieved, even managing a small smile. Any traces of nervousness faded away, obviously relieved she did not scold him for the idea.

"It warms my heart to know there are such people whom I can trust," he said with more of his usual cheer. "Thank you, Your Majesty." He leaned forward in a partial bow, his right arm held to his waist.
