Ashe was having a hard time absorbing all the information this conversation was providing her with. Unfortunately, nothing she could infer gave her any definite answers. Sylar was a tricky one.

Regardless, she soldiered on. She had a choice to make. She could admit to having power--her magick, for what it was worth--or she could refuse. Sylar was already convinced she had something he wanted. She was sure nothing she said would change that. If he ever escaped or was set loose, he would most definitely be coming for her. Basch would not like it, and it would be putting him and Penelo and Larsa in danger, but as long as they were ready, they could handle it. She'd be a fool not to take this opportunity.

She cleared her throat. "Oh? Now you've my attention." She crossed her arms. "I am something of a mage." She was going to stop there, but continued. If she could make herself as desirable as possible, it was likely she could prevent any more deaths. Sylar would surely come for her first, or at least she thought so. "To be more precise, I am accomplished in the Black, White, Green, Time and Arcane magicks."

Ashe paused briefly as she tried (successfully, thank the gods) to get her nerves under control. "Your turn. Tell me everything. Why, how. Who."

Someone gifted in the art of magic. Not only that, but in many different forms of it. Definitely a target that Sylar would want to visit at a later time. Unfortunately, it would have to be a later time since he was still unable to escape from this imprisonment. Just a matter of time though...

"It would be easiest to start with the who. I know him as the Shepherd. He sends me notes, but I have yet to meet him in person." That was all he could tell her about that, even if it may not be all she wanted to hear.

"The why is basically because he told me to. He's sent me letters before telling me places where I could meet victims, and so I follow them. The only ones that didn't work out were yours and the one I would have done if those heroes hadn't caught me." He had noticed that letter had gone missing, meaning someone from that group had likely found it. Most likely that meant the information was now worthless, the heroes likely warning the people he was supposed to kill. Little more would result from it though, the heroes would not be able to catch the Shepherd.

"As for the how." Sylar shrugged his shoulders. "Your guess is as good as mine. Somehow the Shepherd just knows, and then he sends me. He gives me directions where and when a person will be, and then I kill them." That answered all her questions to the best of his ability, but at the same time she had decided to tell him what her specific magikal powers were. That deserved a little something extra.

"An interesting little bit of information though." Sylar leaned as far forward as the bars would allow and dropped his voice a little. "The letter telling me to kill you had some extra instructions telling me not to be seen by anyone else. The Shepherd had never said that explicitly before." Sylar leaned back again. "That's why I disappeared as soon as Adam arrived."

Ashe took a minute or two to digest all of that. It was a lot of information. That last part struck her as the most interesting. Was Adam in league with Sylar and the Shepherd? Was Adam himself the Shepherd? Nonsense, she thought. He was a simple silversmith, not some snake in the grass. He was a friend. He had saved her. No, it was more likely that Adam was actively trying to foil this Shepherd's plans, whatever they were. That, or it really was just a coincidence. The simplest answer is most often the correct one. The easiest way would be to approach Adam about it openly. Then, at least, they could pool their resources against the Shepherd. Sylar was imprisoned, but the mastermind behind the murders was still at large.

Still mentally going through everything Sylar had said, and the names of people she should contact with choice bits of information, she spoke. "And you are content? Content to play puppet to this Shepherd, to stay blind as a newborn lamb, completely dependent on this man you have yet to meet?" Ashe leveled her gaze, looking to meet Sylar's eyes. "You know he is using you to his own ends. You know he will discard you when he is done with you. And we both know," she continued, lowering her voice and taking another step towards the cell, "that he knows how to keep you dead."

Sylar could tell how much she was processing all this information, and when she finally spoke again his smile only grew bigger. "If I was content then I never would have told you anything. I hate being used, but if I benefit from it then I can usually tolerate it." Even in his own world he'd been nothing but a pawn that people used.

None of them had gotten away with it unscathed though. "Honestly though..." Sylar leaned forward again and dropped his voice to a whisper. "I deal with people like the Shepherd because they have what I want. As soon as they stop giving it to me, then I just take it by force."

He dropped his voice even lower at what he said next. "As for keeping me dead... I honestly doubt that very much." What no one else, maybe not even the Shepherd, knew was that there were more bad guys than just them. Sylar had other allies that needed him for some reason or another. That was one good thing about being used, sometimes you became indespensible.

"Do you?" Ashe sighed slightly, shaking her head. "I would not be so sure, Sylar. None, save a very select few apparently including you and the Shepherd, know of my abilities. There is no conceivable way the man could know. " Of that, she was certain. "No one is as safe as they feel they are in this city, Sylar. You would do well to remember that."

As would you, she reminded herself.

She cleared her throat, turning away from the cell. "I can provide shelter. A roof. Comforts I doubt you've had since arriving here." She didn't think it would be enough to deter Sylar from hunting her down, but that wasn't her concern anymore. "Seek me out upon your emancipation. Perhaps we shall be able to come to a more mutually beneficial arrangement."

Thinking on her words, Sylar realized Ashe did have a point. Even if he hated to agree with her, there was no guarantee to anything, especially on Rivelata. Everyone now knew who and what he was, which could mean that those who had helped him before for their own gains might think he was too much of a liability now.

"I will..." He wasn't sure how mutually beneficial it would be though. He supposed it would depend how things played out. He was pretty sure she'd be seeing him a lot sooner than she expected in either case, and for her sake she had better be prepared.
