The Fight We Didn't Want [Closed Thread; Completed]

Feb 26, 2008 01:02

WHO: The Hitachiin Twins
WHAT: Post-fight sentiments; reconciliation?
WHERE: Crimson Dragon Inn (Kaoru's bedroom)
WHEN: Late evening, Kaoru's second day
WHY: Because Hikaru-mun and Kaoru-mun can't seem to get on AIM together for long periods of time so this will have to do.

Kaoru twiddled an orange flower in his hands - a Zinnia, Shuuichi-hanayasan had called it. The young florist had also told Kaoru that the flower meant 'loyalty'. He wasn't sure yet if he was actually going to tell that to Hikaru or not.

Walking down the streets of the market district, trying to get his bearings back, the young redhead attempted to piece together what had just happened less than an hour ago. Kaoru refused to believe he was jealous that Hikaru had been thinking of Haruhi - who was not there - when Kaoru was sitting right next to him, at the time working on designs for Miss Ciel, the seamstress. Kaoru was more than willing to lose himself in work they could both enjoy instead of worrying about things out of their control - like, whether or not anyone else they knew would be showing up in this strange city. Apparently, Hikaru did not share Kaoru's sentiments, or else they would've never had that fight.

It took a bit, but Kaoru finally found the inn where he'd stayed the night before - ah, so it was called the "Crimson Dragon"; no wonder he'd thought the animal had looked like a snake. He was just contemplating whether or not to eat dinner when he heard a chorus of voices begin singing out in English: {*}

"I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling...
"Gotta make you understand...
"Never gonna give you up!
"Never gonna let you down!
"Never gonna run around... and desert you!
"Never gonna make you cry...
"Never gonna say goodbye...
"Never gonna tell a lie... and hurt you!"

It took a moment for Kaoru to process the words, but when he did, his eyes went wide in shock. With that, he fled upstairs. He didn't care if people were sleeping or if he was interrupting the festivities downstairs, he just wanted to lock himself in his room. Thus, his scrambling up the steps and running down the hallway of the second floor probably made a lot of noise. He only barely remembered to keep hold of the Zinnias that Shuuichi-hanyasan had so graciously given him.

Back to the door, he just stared into the barely-furnished place he'd spent the previous night. 'Never gonna give you up'... He didn't want to believe that that had just happened. 'Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you'... That made Kaoru remember his poem. The other night, the first night he arrived here, he'd composed a poem when he couldn't sleep. It wasn't until midday the following day that he'd found Hikaru again. An entire day parted... they hadn't been separated for that long in all the time that Kaoru could remember...

He walked over to the bed, sat down on it, and placed the Zinnias beside him. He picked up the parchment he'd torn from his journal from off the night-stand. There, in writing that was not his neatest, was the poem: 'Separation', he'd called it. Just to hear how it sounded out loud, he read,

"Nights alone have long since past
Yet they haunt me again at last
Layers of sheets cannot my skin warm
Since from my brother have I been torn
Perhaps the moonlight can lull me to sleep
So a new dawn with him I can greet"

Kaoru ran a hand through his hair. "I wonder if Hikaru will show up or n..." He set the paper back down and placed the Zinnias on top of it. Fully clothed, he crawled into bed. He pulled the sheets up and brought the pillow up over his head.

{*OOC: The folks in the AIM chat were singing this song the night of February 25th, so I guess this is a bit of 4th wall breaking as well as an inside joke, but oh well! XD When they shouted "EVERYBODY!" and linked the youtube video in the chat, I couldn't help but include it here. It's "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley}
